Some friends and I got busted during my high school years for shoplifting. Did some other stuff I should have been busted for too. I’m a cop now (yes, they know about the violations).

had to stay there on the bike for around 10 minutes while he searched me up to make sure i didnt have any previous offenses, while about 50 people passed by giving me the weirdest looks ever,
it was a 75$ ticket, showed up in court afew months later and won, because the cop didnt bother showing up…

I also didn’t spend more than 24 hours in, so there’s that as well. I did do the holding cell thing, which I found exceedingly unpleasant. I would have been happy enough but they confiscated the book I bought specifically to go to jail. Which really, WTF? How am I supposed to become rehabilitated without the means to commit self-improvement?
Anyway, afterward, because I’d been so bored and unhappy, I vowed to give up my life of crime and go straight.

I have been reading some of the stories and I have to say that for those who haven’t graced our penal system, be grateful. I have some horror stories that are pretty horrible. Spending 5 days in a holding cell in North Las Vegas County Jail for example. Bottom line, crime doesn’t pay.

I got slapped with a similar charge in 1979, and got off with a warning. Today, I’d get 5 years.
There is no excuse to jail first time, non-violent drug offenders. None. Besides the other humiliating things that go on in the joint, you learn more about crime there than you do on the streets.
