All life has value. You’re entitled to mourn who you wish. And mourning one does not have to come at the expense of another. Whitney’s death and the coverage it received has nothing to do with our soldiers dying. One does not diminish the other. Every passing of life is sad but it’s an ending no one escapes - some just come sooner than others, but it will come.
Some asshole bitch posted on Facebook that she’s angry that Whitney’s records will sell like hotcakes now, and that Dolly Parton will be making a fortune off Houston’s death!
FB chick will probably be one of the first in line when they release the inevitable tribute/ greatest hits CD.

unfortunately, this is all to common with music. Look at all the great artists that died way to early. Jimi hendrix, jim morrison, most of Lynard skynard, janis joplin and Elvis. Not to mention curt cobain and many others.
Are you referencing drug use, or the way she died?
Because Cobain made his dome explode with a 12 gauge, if memory serves.
I like this post though, because it brings up a good point.
To all: who in music that has died has affected you the most?

Also, three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash. Hardly “drug related”…hence my ‘uncanny bath’ comment.
I think I miss Shannon Hoon the most. Blind Melon was a pretty quirky cool band and he was the main spark of that.
Galaxy was my favorite.
Back in October '95, I was helping a friend move from VA to NY. We drove all through the night and saw a shooting star in the wee hours. When the sun rose, we turned on the radio and heard the news that Shannon Hoon had died. We had a tragic magic feeling that day.

Makavali: maybe you misread my post. With the exception of Alcoholics and druggies all people have value.
As the RajRaj said: actions have consequences ! She made her bed and not gets to sleep in it !
But what if she was clean and the after effects took her life? what if a drug addict who no longer did drugs developed a deadly sickness years after they became sober? Would you still say that? Are we not to be forgiven for trying to change?
I think these kind of “retorts” when celebs die( and not-so-surprisingly get media attention) disrespect those who died for our country, imo.

I agree with you.
I think it puts things in better perspective.
I am the daughter of a Viet Nam vet that was in Lebanon, the Bay of Pigs,3 tours of Viet Nam, Lebanon and special assignment to South America. I absolutely know he is an American hero. At least to me.

And there are people who have achieved much more than your mother/father.
Can I say screw your parents, why should we care about what they achieved because others have done more?
Caring about one doesn’t preclude you from caring about the other.

It’s the “FUCK HER” comments that are strange. What the hell did this woman do to any of you?
Was she even on drugs when she died?
Honestly, unless YOU PERSONALLY just got a limb blown off in combat, please save us the “we can’t mourn celebs because soldiers died” routine. It comes off about as authentic as those fake dog tags people wear just for fashion.
