And this is how I know you are socially inept. A more secure person with social skills would have just laughed at the joke but you got rather defensive. It struck you deeper than it should have. When you grow up around other males you understand the concept of ball busting.
Well, I don’t have the power to force IQ tests on my neighbors, but this seems almost self-evident to me based on my interactions and observations. I don’t think it’s a stretch to imagine that a child’s mind might develop differently if the priorities were shifted from basic survival during development to things like academics, sports and social pursuits.
Especially when malnutrition is no longer a concern.
Outside of very severe factors, I do not believe academics, sports and social pursuits will have a significant impact on increasing intelligence. I believe their impact is negligible.
How do you think people managed to become as smart and accomplished as we have?
Would you expect a child who narrowly avoided starvation, wasn’t taught to read until he was 18 and whose idea of social etiquette was doing what the warlord says so he won’t chop off your arm to be able to learn calculus as easily as a child who was raised in a normal family in Portland, Maine?
Assuming, of course, the requisite material has been taught.
