He didn’t say he was going to kill whites though. He said if necessary go to war with white nationalists. I think it’s a step to say he meant kill white people. Was the war on crime about killing criminals? Was the war on poverty about killing poor people?
It was a poor choice of words maybe but if directly asked to clarify I’m sure Bernie meant go to war with the ideas espoused by them and not use the US military to find and eliminate them.
