Ya, the riots were something else.
*I remember they destroyed a retirement home (iirc) that was being built by the community and church organization (again iirc) for the community. It made absolutely no sense.

Some starting lines have you running in the wrong direction.
All the positives happened at the tail end.
So he states the obvious and then fails to come up with an answer. I thought he was smart.
Okay. Is that relevant?
It makes perfect sense when you realize that irrational behavior is the result of fear and anger. Happy people donāt riot and loot.
I guessā¦
Yep. Or, simply set a person back further than āWhite privilegeā can set ahead or back (depending on perspective)
Hey senior Zecarlo
I can share the link and you can watch the whole discussion. It was a panel on race relations in America. He was addressing the absurdity of the riots in Baltimore and how the media was portraying it.
Yes because it shows that the forces of oppression were around for a lot longer than the forces of change. What people call black or inner city culture is a product of white people. Slave owners never intended that blacks were going to go to college or even have actual families. How can a culture develop a sense of fatherhood when for centuries his women were owned by someone else? His children were owned by someone else? He was owned by someone else?
I think Lyndon B Johnson and his approach to social reform had more to do with the dissolution of the black family unit then anything else.
Why would I, as an American who has lived in the inner city, who has worked in inner cities, who did not grow up in a segregated community, who is married to a black woman, need to watch a video to explain my life?
Listen Che I am 48 % African according to my ancestry.com results and I still watched it.
The drug war is more likely. The stats show marriage declined among blacks as the war was intensified.
North or subsaharan?
Donāt you think your getting too personal now blood. I come from a a long line of Berber warriors. The translation of my last name is literally warrior who has small ears.
Are you sure itās ears?
You know my Berber is a bit rough I will have to ask my Berber grandmother.
It also shows those forces occurred further in the past and even fewer people alive today were subject to them.
Imo, because no one alive today was subject to those circumstances. Do we still deal with the repercussions of Jim Crow? Sure, I can see that argument. Slavery? Thatās a lot more difficult sell for me. Everyone alive today is only aware of slavery as a historical lesson not as an experience. Even if itās still a factor, dwelling on it doesnāt change anything. It certainly doesnāt make things better.
Also, if this is true why has the % of single-parent households increased so much for black people?
Based on the chart I would expect it to increase some as all demographics have, but itās increased much more substantially for black people than any other group. Theyāre well into the 65% range now.
