I see that Sowell’s books were mentioned on the thread - any takers on the assertions* espoused in his essays that the most destructive aspects of AA culture were appropriated from poor Irish immigrants?
Now you are being a piece of shit troll and I am going to report you to a moderator, something I would not normally do. There is absolutely nothing in that quote of mine that would suggest what you are accusing me of.
Saying because Peterson is Canadian he can’t understand American history is not only incredibly daft it’s extremely illogical. Like him or not he’s incredibly intelligent and well versed in history. So yea…your logic is poor.
You ignored everything that I posted before that but, as far as my comment about Peterson, that was not poor logic. Would anyone expect a foreigner to understand another nation’s history? Is his doctorate in US history? BTW, my comment is very different from what you said: “Saying because Peterson is Canadian he can’t understand American history…” I did not say that, I only said I wouldn’t EXPECT him to understand it.
I’ll go back and read it again. I may have misread you.
I’m American, but understand plenty of world history as it’s a hobby of mine. I simply don’t follow your train of thought. I’ve seen enough of him to know he certainly grasps our history. If he continually displayed a lack of knowledge or ignorance on the matter I’d agree with you, but he doesn’t.
Let me rephrase then. I doubt the history of the USA, with an emphasis on black history, is his strong suit. Now, if he took the time to learn more about it, given he is a smart man, he might formulate better arguments, or even change his mind.
Because you are taught that. You are referring to a group that for centuries had no responsibilities outside of the work they were forced to do. They were denied the ability to develop a sense of self. People ask why so many in the inner cities look to the government for help. When the government is what has given you freedom and has given you your identity as human beings, it makes sense.
I agree to an extent, but at what point does that no longer hold water ? We have blacks represented in every level of employment, government, academia and celebrity in this country. Never mind sports where they’re grossly overrepresented. Not that I care, btw.
What it will take, outside of government doing something, is for influential black Americans to realize that no one will care more for their people than they, and go into those communities and get their hands dirty. They will have to spend time and money. But they need to be a visible element that stands in opposition to the negative elements.
