So here in Buffalo we got hit with snow already. It’s October 13th and we already have record snowfall for a 24 hour period. Not good. As much as 24 inches fell in some suburbs, all in less than a one day period. There’s currently driving bans across the entire city.
Anyone in the Buffalo area? Stupid lake effect snow. On the other hand, I did get off of work today.
Now here’s the question: Is going to the gym considered unneccesary travel? I’m certainly not missing my workout tonight.

Reading this makes me so glad I don’t live in upstate NY anymore.
You should get a good workout shoveling the old people driveways and sidewalks.

Ha, good call. Today is bicep/tricep/back day, so shoveling should work pretty well.

Ok, I guess I can’t be pissed anymore about the flurries we got here. I was just pissed to see snow this early in October.
No, going to the gym is definitely NECESSARY travel!
Well, we just got into freezing temperatures last night for the first time here in the Utica area (42 miles East of Syracuse).
There has been talk of snow around here too, but we didn’t get any yet.
The Syracuse area usually gets hit pretty hard too, and it gets a little better the more East you go.
I feel for ya man. I’ve been trying to find a job in Arizona, or anywhere that has nice weather year 'round, but about 6-7 months ago I found a good job that kept me here.

You’ll get hit soon enough. Nothing to do but curl up w/ a few cases of Genny Cream Ale, Light, and Ice and wait for spring, which starts about mid June up there, right?

I agree, but my gym is closed apparently. :(
That’s that goddamned global warming for ya!
Yeah, like all those massive hurricanes that global warming spawned this past hurricane season. Oh, wait, turns out there was barely a hurricane, let alone massive numbers of huge storms pounding the eastern seaboard and gulf coast regions. You mean the doom-sayers and global warming alarmits were wrong about the hurricane season?!
Call me crazy but I’m getting the sense that the earth’s macroclimatic tendenices are–gasp!–unpredictable, and prone to their own inexplicable and dramatic changes.

Doesn’t global warming make climate less predictable?
I am in New York City now, no snow it was a bit cold but not by much. I am from upstate New York, far upstate, 3 hours north of Syracuse near the Watertown area. I remember the winters, it’s no joke especially with the lake effect snow, I kind of liked it in a sick way though, lol. I prefer cold whether over hot. But the snow can be a pain in the ass.

It’s usually not too bad, but this one hurt. Because the leaves were still on the trees, the combined weight of the snow and leaves has broken all kinds of tree branches, leading to power outages across the entire WNY region. The entire city is in a state of emergency now. They aren’t expecting for power to be back up for most people until Thursday.
I’m fortunate to be in an area that was outside the major snow zone, but about 10 minutes from me is a total war zone.

My kids would be in heaven. We just got all our ski and snowboard equipment for the winter. They can’t wait for snow.

Nobody’s in heaven here, trust me. There’s more busted branches on the ground then there is snow. Plus, it’s now raining in the area which means massive flooding.

Good luck with the flooding. We had quite a bit of flooding in our area this year. It sticks.
The kids are excited for snow because we live near a ski mountain. They spend all their time at the mountain in the winter.

I used to live in Watertown and I went to school in the north country.
I remember how muck lake effect snow there was on 81 near Pulaski. No matter how clear the day was everywhere else it seemed to always be a whiteout there.
