Where Do You Live?

Aside: Apparently “fuck” can be hot or cold depending on context

I hear that, our summers are usually 80s and 90s dripping with humidity, but that only lasts a month at best, and our winters are a bit more extreme, common temps here are 20 to 40 below zero, had one night of 60 below last winter. If any of you see a guy running around wearing only shorts when its 20 or 30 above thats just me thinking summer is coming.

All these Colorado fans. Kinda makes me chuckle. No matter how hard they try, Colorado will never be better than Texas.

And the sad thing is, everyone in colorado knows it.

Heidelberg, Germany. 4 hours from Paris, 8 hours from Rome. Beautiful mountains and great beer.

Why would you ever want to leave the beautiful state of MN? I have been all over this country and it is by far the best place I have ever lived. Well, okay I live in the cities so I can’t say much about the rest of the state other than what I’ve seen going to the North Shore.

Cities and othe places that are alot like here–that offer the same standard of living as the Twin Cities but different weather conditions and cost of living:

Portland, OR $$$
Seattle, WA $$$$
San Fransisco, CA $$$$$
Boston, MA $$$$
Raleigh/Durham/Cary, NC $$
Austin, TX $$

Scotland

I live just outside of Hartford, CT (insurance capitol of the world… umm, no idea if that is good or bad).

The one thing I wonder about some of the spots mentioned thus far is that there is a lot of focus on weather, recreational activities, etc. (all of which are good and important). However, some of the areas described seem like tougher areas to find jobs depending on what kind of work you do.

I would just be curious to hear what kind of major industries or companies are found in some of those same locations. A lot of these places sound awesome, but I also work for a Fortune 50 company, so finding comparable work in some of the locations would be a little tough.

Kuz

Pittsburgh has a good bit going on in medicine(U.P.M.C.) they own about half of the city, technology(C.M.U.), finance(Mellon), and industry (P.P.G.), but not much steel any more. Alcoa is based here, and I’m sure there are a few more I’m leaving out.

BOULDER, COLORADO

probably one of the coolest town’s (not a city, a town) in the country.

it’s got a younger/college crowd, lots of cool outdoorsy things to do, and god damn if it’s not the home of the
CU Golden Buffaloes, and them big Flatiron Mountains to set the backdrop all year round.

There’s few things as good in this world as a tailgate before a CU football game with those awesome mountains in the background and knowing you’re about to go and scream your balls off the second Ralphie comes charging out that gate to signal the start of the season… hell, the AeroStallion needs to get ready for his tail-gate party this weekend for the Rocky Mountain Showdown, who wants a brat?

Fuck’em up fuck’em up, go CU!

Good, now all you Texans can stay home next winter.

Don’t you remember a few years ago when you and Major Applewhite got T-Bagged by CU in the Big 12 Championship?

How many of those do you have? oh yeah… none (unless you go way back to 1996 for the inaugural Big XII championship)

Bristol, CT

lostinthought,
pueblo is a relatively small town. freind of mine(bridget) used to live there. she absoutely loved it there.

Southeast Michigan (near Ann Arbor).

I love it here, but it is were I was raised.

A lot of people think the winters suck, but it is milder than minnesota.

One thing to consider is, do you want it a lot different than home.

The western states are a nice change, although some attributes can get overwhelming.
For example, you can’t seem to escape the sun in SOCAL, Utah, Arizona and Nevada. I couldn’t wait to get back home and see clouds.
Also, you may miss the water. I know they have the ocean and rivers, but it is not the same as being on a lake.

I don’t go to CO unless it is absolutely necessary. And I am never there longer than I have to be.

BUT -

If it weren’t for Texans spending all our huge oil money in CO - you guys would be New Mexico. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

If it meant not having I-70 plugged with Texans every weekend, I’d welcome it.

Nothing personal RJ, I just want to keep it all for myself. I’m selfish that way.

Thanks Terps, I was born and raised here but been to plenty of places and seen tons of other towns…Got real close to moving to San Diego but ended up staying here. It is small compared to some others…I think we have about 150,000…not too big and not too small…I just love it…If anyone wants a tour, just PM me!

Believe me - I have not lost a thing in CO. You never have to worry about me clogging up I-70whatever. After driving from Silverton to Ouray in the middle of the night - I don’t want to drive on any road located within your borders.

But then again - I am a flatlander from West Texas.
