Based on this, only 3 states don’t have a form of early voting. I think most would agree that casting ballots earlier isn’t as big of an issue. However, one party does hold very strongly that IDs should not be required. Ironic, one of these states is blue the other two are red.
Maine just collected enough signatures to get Voter ID on as an up or down citizen’s ballot measure vote. It could be on as early as next November. That would be a very, very interesting vote to watch. In my opinion it should be presented in as low of a typical turnout election cycle as possible, but that could have disadvantages too. Most honest people simply agree with it and it isn’t presented as a partisan issue on the ballot. It is a Yes or No vote.
There is absolutely a machine that can get fired up by Maine Democrats to come up with new voters who need translators, but it may not be enough. They fired it up to ram the school budget through, but they only needed a few hundred votes to do that.
I think a TON of even the most blue no matter who Democrats in Maine will vote in favor of Voter ID, but might never admit to doing so. You really need to have your blinders on to not believe it is a problem.
Our ridiculous Secretary of State who banned Trump from the primary ballot in Maine had this to say:
“The bill could reduce faith in our elections by making participation for certain types of voters – black, indigenous, people of color, people living in poverty, seniors or people living in rural areas – more complicated and burdensome. It could also undermine faith in elections by increasing lines at the polls and headaches for voters,” said Bellows.
IDK, the cognitive dissonance I’ve seen (in both parties, but more prevalent in the left) makes me think that this will still be defeated.
I mean, I hope I’m wrong, but there is no one more self-hating than a white liberal.
This is hilarious.
Part of the problem is one of Maine Democrats own making. Putting it on as a ballot measure means a lot of people will just read it and decide on it right there. It is not a wild or unreasonable idea at all, so only people who’ve been fully indoctrinated into the woke faith will have both the awareness of its implications and the motivation to vote against it.
People will also naturally wonder why someone would be against it, listen to someone like Bellows, and conclude that it is a bunch of malarkey.
There are a lot of signs that Maine is starting to get over woke, even if it isn’t about to go red. One of Lewiston’s state reps to Augusta ran unopposed, Mana Abdi. She’s all in on woke oppression politics with her campaign page quoting James Baldwin to let everyone know that people who don’t agree with her are hateful oppressors who deny her existence.
60 percent of the people in her district left the ballots blank, which is very unusual for a Democrat in Lewiston, a Democrat city.
If voter ID passes, Maine likely flips back to purple and possibly even red. I believe the fraud is quite extensive.
Only thing more cringe is their embarrassing savior complex
Your typical corporation. A hierarchical structure.
More like a worker co-op where decisions are made by the workers who own the business. Yes, I do realize that worker co-ops have different structures and this may include an ultimate manager. However, they serve at the discretion of the workers and are hired and fired by them.
No dude. Try supply side and trickle down for a starting point.
@Njord @castoli1971
How exactly does this relate to some 15 million voters not showing up to arguably the most important election of our lifetime?
How long has it been since the Democrat Presidential election platform was something other than “First -form of identity-?” 2004, as best I can tell.
I have a couple of questions regarding your elections, perhaps one of you could provide some insight:
-
Would it be inconvenient to hold the election on a Sunday?
A lot of countries in Europe do just that (even for local/municipal elections) precisely because it’s the most convenient day for most people. -
What is the problem with requiring id for casting a vote?
Like @twojarslave noted a few posts back, I don’t know of any democratic country that allows that. If you show up without your id, you don’t get to vote.
Honestly, I didn’t pay too close attention until ‘06, when I was 16. Although, since ‘16, their platform has just been ‘not Trump’ more than anything of substance.
Certain areas of the US are VERY religious… predominantly conservative areas. I think making it TO the polls to vote wouldn’t be an issue, but having to pay federal workers 2x regular wage to host the election (and forcing them to work these hours) would be problematic.
The easier and obvious solution is to make election day a federal holiday - which seems to never gain any traction. Meanwhile Juneteenth was made a federal holiday a couple years ago (not criticizing the holiday, just the priorities).
The lefties try to claim this is oppressive to minority voters.
The left babies and coddles minorities. Treats them with kid gloves and tries to help them exclusively - to the point of inverting racism.
They believe minorities are incapable of helping themselves. Or, at least, less capable of helping themselves than white people.
The argument is that minorities are less likely to have ID’s, so requiring ID’s to vote is oppressive to their key demographic.
If it sounds like the left is racist in these practices, it’s because they are. They just can’t see it.
2008: Obama
2012: Obama
2016: Hilary
2020: Harris as VP
2024: Harris
So…
2008: identity (black)
2012: identity (black)
2016: identity (woman)
2020: NOT TRUMP
2024: identity (woman, black (kinda)) + NOT TRUMP
They should put a tranny in next. The first woman president should be a man.
Fixed.
Well, they’re right about that, tbh.
It’s why 85% of blacks still vote blue across the board.
I was happy to see the latino vote realizing what side they’re actually on.
I only know a few asians… they’re all red.
Pretty sure I’d called that for this election…but they weren’t progressive enough for real change. A transexual, multiracial, quadriplegic dwarf is the ideal Democrat candidate. If they can find a good clean, bright, articulate one, that’s a storybook, man.
Ha! Hadn’t thought of that! Thank you.
I don’t know about your federal workers, but if they’re anything like state / municipal workers I know, it’s not like they need to rest on the 7th day. God never mentioned sitting on your ass for 6 day, then rest.
I kid, I kid.
Ahh ya. The candidate was first x, but every talking point was not Trump.
