Yeah yeah yeah…how much ya bench?

Good job Matty!

Thanks alot guys, I have been putting the OH Press on the back burner for a while because of the meets, but now I could give it some love.

Groin is giving me issues still.

Climbing up some ladders at work I tweaked my groin, again, anytime the groin in stretched it gives me a great deal of pain, I think any free squatting is out for the time being, Im hoping box squatting wont give me issues.

Great session. Sucks about the groin. When’s the next meet? I thought you were doing one in Jan which means it’s hard to take time off. If not then I would consider taking some time off. What about bench only in Jan and give your groin a chance to heal up?

Thanks James…

Yeah I’m taking at least 6 months off till the next meet, I am hurting and continually pounding something is just stupid and I have been guilty of that too often. I also think 2 meets a year allows me sufficient time to be primed for these meets. Unfortunately I just started the cube but If I cannot effectively complete the program I may switch it up to get healthy and even incorporate more of a BBer template for the time being.

Edit

As far as Bench only my pec is fucked too! LOL. Foe me at this point in time I only want to do full power, if Im hurt I dont want to do any meets at all, I feel I have so much to improve in every lift that its my only option.

Oh my Gawd! Cubes are everywhere!

Sorry about the injuries, that’s gotta suck.

Yessir it blows…

Cubeology…

Week 2 day 2

BENCH REPS…

INCLINE BP - 135x20 185x10 225x5 250x3x5
SS
CHINS - 10,10,5,10,5

DB INCLINE - 100x20 100x16 (didnt have the last 4)
CGBP - 225x3x12 (Pec held up!)
AVG BAND FLY - 3x15 (love these)
LIGHT BAND PUSHDOWN - 50,20,20,20
ABS

Had some extra time so I did some other stuff

Pendlay Row - 135x10 225x10 275x5 225x10
CS ROW - 2PLT x 30 3PLT x 2 x 20

Happy that my pec held up, I was very cognizant of it and maybe me being extra careful helped. This was a solid session, I really like pec flys, major pump braskis

Based on the amount of volume with those numbers today I’d say your pec issue is only a minor strain snd you should be back at 100% soon. The groin issue seems more serious to me, I know I may be ultra sensitive on this because of my own injuries but be careful with it my friend.

Thinking back before mine went I had some issues similar to yours although they were spread out over a longer period of time. I also remember a couple of times in the week before the blowout having discomfort in the area when getting out of bed which hadn’t happened prior to that. If you experience anything similar I would get to the doctor and have it checked.

Well dude I attempted to squat, high box squat and leg press it all gave me a good deal of pain, I made an appointment with a Sports Injury guy next week, until then Im shutting down squatting totally

I attempted to squat regularly - no go, Narrow stance - no go high box - no go. 135 lbs caused me a good deal of pain. What Im also discovering is that I am having shooting pains right below my knee, Im definitely concerned. Made an appt with a sports injury doc for next saturday. Im not sure what the knee stuff is, but I even tries leg ext and again it felt like someone was stabbing my shins.

Kinda at a crossroads so to speak, If I cant squat how the hell am I gonna do the cube training. Needless to say I am very disappointed. If anyone has any ideas on how I can exercise my legs sans squatting until I am healthy please LMK, because I have no clue, its the basis of all my lower body training.

The rest of the day.

GMs - 185x8 205x2x8
BAND LEG CURLS - 3x15
LYING LEG CURLS - 2x20
WALKING ON THE TREADMILL WITH IT OFF - 6 minutes
BAND BACK EXT - 3x20

To top it off I had severe for lack of a better term Back Spasms and had to pull over three times on the ride home to stand up and ease the discomfort.

Smart move Matty. Good luck brother, let us know what he comes up with.

Groins are a real bitch to deal with, I don’t know anything other than time off and work back into it slowly. See what the doc says I guess. I know it sucks but it is what it is.

Thanks guys, I am really leaning towards stopping cube training for now and possibly working on my bench more as I am ok health wise in that area. Ill continue to DL, I may have to mish mash a routine between other routines until healthy and then hit the cube in a few months.

Damn, injuries suck. Just as you’re making progress, bamm!

Thankfully if I had to have an injury at any time it would be now, I just finished my third meet and dont plan on doing any meets until June the earliest, so if there is any silver lining I have enough time to get healthy and chase 1300

Well the good news is I flat benched today and my pec held up well, I am being much more more deliberate in the descent of the movement. I am considering running a Smolov cycle for bench if I am unable to continue with the cube which seems likely at this point.
