WNPF SARGE MCCRAY MEET WRITE UP…

Well my first year competing in Powerlifting and it ended with success for me. My first meet I went it blindly and had low total, second meet I bombed the fuck out, I busted my ass to make sure I ended the third meet of the year and career with a bang.

Squat -

First attempt - 365 3 whites, no issues, very easy, nice and deep.
Second attempt - 400 3 whites, ugly but it went up, at times I think I do not have to go as deep as I do.
Third attempt - 410, couldn’t get out of the hole. Bar rolled up my back. I have hit 415 in the gym but I need to clean up my form and get stronger out of the hole.

400lb Squat is actually a 30 lb meet PR

W/o a doubt, squats are the bane of my lifting existence. This will be my main priority, nevertheless a 400 lb squat in competition is a benchmark for me.

Unfortunately I tweaked my groin that left my mobility fucked for the rest of the meet.

Bench - I have been going through some wrist and elbow discomfort so I tempered my numbers for the meet. Compounding this warming up I strained my pec…FACK!

First attempt - 300 no issues 3 whites.
Second attempt - 315 no issues 3 whites.
Third attempt - 325 no issues 3 whites.

I feel I had another 10 possibly 15 lbs in me if I was feeling ok. Nevertheless, this was +10 lb meet PR.

Deadlift -

This is the lift that I have been making the the most progress at the gym lately, unfortunately my groin tweak from the bench left mobility compromised. Before anyone says it I know when you look at the vids I may have fell into a bad habit or two, but there was a reason, I was pretty uncomfortable.

First attempt - 460 no issues 3 whites.
Second attempt - 500 3 whites, in a pretty good amount of pain, but there was no way I was not getting 500, it was a big deal for me.
Third attempt - 510 3 whites…FUCK YES…I fought through and got a +70 lb meet pr in competition.

I won my division as well, well truth be told I was the only one who did full power in my weight class. Ill take it lol.

Totaled 1235 (+145), looking to fuck with that dick 1300. My squat needs alot of work, and Ill get on it right away.

Welcome to the 3-4-5 club! (Or, for the purest, the 4-3-5 club.) That was awesome, you owned 510 lbs., and that 400 lbs. squat was an impressive grinder. Congrats, that was a great meet, especially overcoming injuries.

Rolling planks - 30 secs each side x 3 sets.

BOX SQUATS off 10" Box + Light Bands (%50) 200x10x2
BAND LEG CURLS Avg Bands - 3x20
CHINS Various grips - 5x10
LEANING LATERAL RAISE - 30x2x30 40x2x15
SS
FRONT PLATE RAISE - 45x3x20
WEIGHTED PUSHUPS - 45x3x12

Still feeling beat the fuck up from the meet, but I still would rather train than not. Pec is very sore on pushing movements, OH Pressing is not an issue. I have DE Upper on Friday may do Incline presses as it should be less uncomfortable in that movement.

Been traveling this week on business and just catching up. Great job at the meet brother.

Didnt train yesterday, I listened to my body and slept like a narcoleptic on Ambien, but am still effing beat. Gonna do some DE work this weekend.

Doing alot of research and reading up on westside for Raw lifters and it seems as if I may have to tweak some stuff, on DE days especially, I think I will up the weight and reps and lower the sets, to give myself more TUT if you will, so my DE days may be 5x5 instead of 8x2, I may also do 65 - 70% of my maxes as it seems if I do go in the 50% range especially on pressing movement I wont get the bang for my buck.

At this stage I think I am ready to start adjusting programs as I see fit,

The idea of doing another meet in January may be too much, I have some lingering issues that may not allow me to it January. A complete offseason, working on weak points and conditioning (somewhat lol) may be what the doctor ordered…but we will see.
