Solid session, the 465 was a grinder but I got it. I had to try the new fashionable cool guy Klokov Press, that shit knocked me off my perch…the 135 didnt move for like 5 seconds, I didnt know how to lift it lol, but it was cool, hard and painful…will keep this in my rotation.
Benching wasn’t enough, you had to one up on the deads slso? Anyway strong work, you gutted out that 465. I don’t know about you but for some reason when I pull heavy against bands every vain in my neck feels like it is going to pop out, which doesn’t happen on regular pulls.
Yahtzee! Nice pulls brother! As always great work!! what do think of the spoon press? I started doing them and they don’t feel like much doing them but the next day my tris were rocked.
Dave - Lol nah man it wasnt like that it was just up next on HTS! Yeah I agree my neck was sore for 2 days, I thought it was the Klokovs, but I think the pulls against bands were more to blame,
Whats up OG, good to see you back…I like the spoon presses in the 10 - 20 range if I hold the DB more at the end of the handle I seem to feel it more in my tris.
SQUAT - 385x3x1
Wow this sucked I GMd every single rep and it felt like a million pounds…CONFIDENCE SHOTSKI!
Defecit DL about 2" 315x5x3
Leg Press - 4PPS x 4 x 10
Leg curl - 95x4x20
Banded Abductors - 3x15
Good pull with that 465. Klokov presses put a whole new target of muscle stretch on my chest, delt tie-ins and really tweaked my traps. I’m trying to work them in more. Do you use any bounce when you do the Klokov? I was really strict but it also limited the weight I used so I think I’ll keep doing them strict(form-no bounce).
Thanks bro…it was a grinder. As far as the Klokov the first rep is a bit of a bounce then the rest are pretty strict. I really like them as well. Only issue I have if I go collar to collar anything over 90 lbs (lol) is extremely hard to get started. But Im going real slow with them and I will patient…I think lol.
The coolest thing I found about doing the Klokov press was that after doing regular presses with false grip and thumbs on the smooth, the Klokov with snatch grip feels like a totally different exercise to my brain, and I have to mentally switch gears to recruit different muscles.
Looking Swolle Matty. Oh wait, didn’t mean to insult you…
Seated DB Cleans - 35x3x20
Rear DB Fly - 35x2x20
Face Pull - 95x3x15
Tri Pushdowns - 95x4x15
Tri Pullovers - 95x3x15
Narrow Grip Chins - 0x10 25x7,5 0x10 (32)
Poundstone Curls - Bar x 50,33
Just a meh session, I swear I used a shit bar for benching it was spinning in my hands. Felt tight enouegh just didnt have any energy, I guess thats what 3 hours of sleep will do. Because I am a trendy bastard with trying new accessory movements (i.e. Klokov press) I tried Poundstone curls for the first time. The high rep low weight actually allows me to do curls, generally any weight on curls kills my distal tendon. So I will keep these in the rotation so I can get some blood in the area…and gets mad swolez too!
Im going to ice my elbows, make love to my roller and have a big bowl of rice and beans.
Again just another mish mash of a session before the max out week next week, on my last day of antibiotics. Week 12 of HTS next week which is the max out.
Im not sure about the max test day I imagine the truest way to do it will be all in the same day but on the other hand Id like to know where Im at on full rest.
What do you think?
Squat and Bench one day and Dead a couple days later?
Also can I drive to VA and train with you and Meat please?
Interested to see where you come out next week. I signed up for 15 weeks and my test week will be at a meet on October 20. Don’t know if that is the right approach or not but that’s what we are going with.
I think any of those methods will work, but the hard part with doing all three in one day is that the deadlift will probably suffer unless you can rest a long time between ‘attempts’ and lifts. Trying to max on all three in 90 minutes or so is not like a meet. If you do want to try all three, shoot for say a 90-95% of 1RM on the final deadlift attempt.
If you don’t mind driving 3.5 hours (or more considering the horrendous traffic you’ll encounter) to train, you’re welcome to it, lol. I did join LL, but I haven’t posted anything yet. I’m a little slow, haha.
I tested my max single only at the meet. What I personally found was I ended up reaping my previous 1 rep PRs on the journey to the meet. HTS programming works.
