You’d better bring diapers for the inevitable tasering you’ll receive if you try to meander in to a High School. People take their pedophilia age limits pretty seriously around here.

Yeah, that makes sense. I am reminded of something that was said about the show The OC: “it’s a show about 25 year old high school kids with 35 year old parents”.
What’s the whole “hooking up” situation like in high school? The age of consent is 18 most places, yes? And people are a lot more religious/conservative, I take it?
I wonder if American college is all that different from Swedish college. I mean, Swedish high school absolutely sucks balls for sure, but Swedish college is pretty sweet. We have frat houses, slutty chicks, cheap alcohol, funny extracurricular activities, college traditions, etc, same as you. We also have a lot of American exchange students if you have a fetish for that like me.
Then again, we don’t have football and cheerleaders in college like you do. And we don’t have cool words in Swedish like “brah”.
It could actually be argued that Swedish college is BETTER than American college, since you don’t have to pay anything to attend here. It may also be a bit easier, since you’re not taking a bunch of different subjects simultaneously like I think you do in the US.
I got the impression from movies that American high school is totally awesome which is why I felt the need to start this thread, but feel free to discuss the awesomeness of American college too! I’m intrigued and wish to learn more.

Yeah, that idea was a bit half-baked… Too many American Pie movies giving me false impressions I guess
Sure, what are some good colleges to visit? Can you just wander in there or are they like gated communities?
lol. awesome.
nah man, you can just ‘wander in’. imagine a university as the ‘main’ focus of the town/city. then you’ve got residential communities all around it. all the restaurants/malls/movie theaters/bars are 95% students. generally you’ll have a ‘strip’ meaning a few city blocks with nothing but bars and clubs and restaurants all within walking distance of another
you’ll have entire apartment complexes of just students, generally with cool shit: beach volleyball courts, huge ass pools, etc
the place i lived at had a 5 pools in the community, all of which where PACKED with students during warm weather. there was also a waist deep pool that had a full sized pool-table IN the pool (which generally was used for beer pong, until ppl started bringing inflatable pool tables)
while i generally feel movies like road trip, van wilder, american pie, etc are exaggerated, there are definitely people that go to a university and have that kind of a college experience
For college, go to a southern school or a school with a big football tradition and attend a football game. I would recommend Alabama vs. Florida, or Oklahoma v. texas, or some other big rivalry with hot drunk southern girls.
Your from Sweden and your envious of American Culture? I dont know if I should find it amusing from my experience or terribly sad because it is just so misinformed. The only enjoyable thing I got from Highschool was being on the wrestling team, playing football, learning the basics about cars form Auto tech class, and learning how to lift weights properly.
Aside from the semi-fun highschool parties and knife fights in the vacant parking lot its incredibly lame. If you want to trade childhood memories then be my guess,Id rather go to highschool and actually learn 4 langauges with Hot,Busty Blondes as my class mates and possibly meet Dolph lundgren at a gym then shoot the shit with a bunch of invalids and future convicts my tax money is going towards.
HolyMac: that sounds pretty much like Sweden, only less pools here due to the climate I guess. Is it common for people to go to college just to party like it is here? I would imagine if you have to pay serious money each year you would be less inclined to be the stereotypical Van Wilder fratboy who doesn’t take his education seriously.
pushmepullme: yeah, that sounds awesome! You know, I’m gonna have to make an effort to learn more about football. I’ve seen it on TV a few times, but I haven’t really gotten into understanding the rules and such. I think I might even try it out locally. We have football (and even cheerleading teams) in Sweden, although it’s not a huge thing like in America. What are some good ways to score with those hot drunken southern ladies of which you speak? Do they all talk like that chick in True Blood? If so, I’ll do whatever it takes
What about strip joints btw? They pretty much don’t exist here due to excessive feminism. Judging from Hollywood, everyone holds their important business meetings in seedy bars with naked ladies cavorting around. I want that too!

Hey, I guess we have it pretty good here after all…
Maybe Sweden should do a better job of promoting itself, like Hollywood does with its cultural imperialism (hey, it worked on me and I’m fucking smart and all).
It wouldn’t be impossible to get a Swedish teen movie to become popular in the US. There was actually a fairly recent example of that happening: Let the Right One In (film) - Wikipedia
The problem is that I dislike the Social Realism genre, and that’s the only kind of movie that will get you government grants pretty much…
But, I’m thinking I should give it a shot. What would you guys like to see in a Swedish teen movie? I’m guessing hot chicks? But other than that? And should we dub it or would you guys be cool with subtitles? Gimme some ideas here, folks.

Lawl A&M a football powerhouse… I guess college station is as college town as you can get… But I highly doubt anyone would go there to have a good time. Incredibly boring and filled with ignorant hicks. I’ve been there many times… not talking out my ass. A couple friends go to school there as well.
My high school was very small, but we had our share of sluts etc. It all depended on who your friends were. I was always friends with the normal pretty tame people. I knew people who started having sex at thirteen, people who got pregnant in 8th grade, people who got drunk every weekend, did drugs, etc all the crazy shit that in my opinion made them retarded douche bags. The large majority of people are all normal, tame kids (rarely with DD,s) and dont party much.
College can be a big party if you go to the right school and want to party all the time.

Hows it like over in Sweden?
High school is pretty lame. Not really a lot of parties going on, can be hard to get alcohol, no school spirit, no cool sports, no cheerleaders, etc.
College in Sweden can be pretty awesome, depending on location. You have cheap liquor, nice girls, lots of activities, quite a bit of school spirit, no tuition costs, lots of foreign students, “frat houses” called nations (almost the same thing), if you want to go see Europe it’s only a car drive away (going from Sweden to Germany is like going from Texas to Oklahoma, no big deal). Basically, read the article I posted earlier in the thread. The main problem is finding a place to live and getting some income to pay the rent and food. If you can do that, then you can go to college for however long you want and do nothing but party and bang chicks. There are some legendary cases in every student city who put Van Wilder to shame, people who never left college and have been going to classes and racking up credits for like 25 years.
