What to Expect when Lowering Dose?

Lowered my dose from 150mg to 100mg about 1.5 weeks ago to help with E2 control. The last 5 days or so I’ve been noticing a lot of changes. Namely my libido, confidence, “manly” feeling, energy, and brain fog/mental agility all dropping noticeably to where they were before TRT.

Just curious if this is to be expected and will level out and the symptoms will improve, or if this is a sure sign my dose is too low.

Had bloodwork done Friday too to help answer this, but that’s a few days away, and I’m just curious for future reference too.

The only thing I notice when I drop my T dose is my libido decreases. Which makes my wife of 35 years happy :frowning:
I am just as strong in the gym and have noticed no issues with brain fog which went away 3 years ago for me.

I do prefer a low dose T year round with low dose anastrozole and 800iu/wk HCG. I blast twice a year and have for the last 3 years. I never seem to lose my gains on the low dose. I do put on belly fat easier and lose site of my abs. I do hate that but how many guys consider losing their abs as a side effect. HaHa.

How often do you inject?

I expect your levels to be in flux for the next couple of weeks, your levels will not be stable for another 4.5 weeks, but doing labs right after changing your dosages is a waste of money.

Usually whenever you change dosages, you will feel as your did pre-TRT on and off for the next 6 weeks. If you keep changing dosages often, then you will truly be lost and will never benefit from TRT.

More doing this round of bloods because I feel something is off and I’m curious if the numbers reflect it. Hopefully help me better identify these symptoms in the future.

If something is totally out of whack (ie E2 is 5) then that might persuade me to make other changes.

Honestly I’d love to find out this is actually low E2 and crank things back up.

You’re not understand what is happening, your levels are “fluctuating” because you made a change to your dosage, meaning your levels at the time of blood testing do not represent actually levels because they are fluctuating.

You might as well be trying to measure the height of the pool during an earthquake. Also when someone lowers their dosage, your body is coming down in levels and the fact that they are fluctuating means it will feel as if levels are low because they are not stable.

Patient is key to success on TRT, stick with the same dosage for at least 6 weeks, then make changes if needed. If you keep making changes before levels are stable, it’s going to take you forever to dial in your TRT protocol.

I gotcha. Where does 6 weeks come from besides the half life of t cyp?

Medications even testosterone cypionate have half lives, it has a half life of 8 days and steady state is reached in 40 days. If you are one who changes the dosage every few weeks, the clock is reset and it’s another 40 days until a stable state is reached.

Makes sense:

The time to reach steady state is defined by the elimination half-life of the drug. After 1 half-life, you will have reached 50% of steady state. After 2 half-lives, you will have reached 75% of steady state, and after 3 half-lives you will have reached 87.5% of steady state. The rule of thumb is that steady state will be achieved after 5 half-lives (97% of steady state achieved).

Additionally, Jens-Ingo Farley wrote a pretty cool half-life calculator with a cool visual aid. A quick google search should link to it.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve lowered my test-e 250mg dosage to 125mg split in 2 injections weekly. Just first week for me. Getting a bit of headache and some anxiety yesterday but not sure if thats from it. Working out 5-6 days per week. Eating big. Will update each week and also have my own thread if you care to check. Will be doing blood work in 6 weeks and look into sub-q injections for easier daily or every other day pinning. Patience is a virtue so lets see how we do.

Best regards,
Bel.

Sounds good man! T cyp here and doing every day.

Girlfriend commented tonight that we’ve been having a lot more sex lately. But this last week I’ve definitely noticed less drive and repeated issues going soft if we pause even for a few seconds. I would suspect my T has come down but E2 is still off.

I’ll keep an eye on your thread too!

Cheers mate and I hear ya. I’ve lowered my dosage because thick blood fwiw as forgot to mention in the first place. You doing the sub-q injections or regular? I’m very interested about my blood results but have to be patient and wait it out now since I’ve lowered the dosage. Yeah man, lets keep in touch and exchange the experience!

Regards,
Bel.

Results are in…1.5 weeks after going from 150mg to 100mg, injected daily. No wonder I feel like crap.

@systemlord I know I should’ve waited longer but I expected these to be way higher (and slowly decreasing) not this mediocre!

TT 529
FT 18.6
E2 12.7

Thinking I should just go back to 150mg until my next consult with Dr Saya

Just curious, what prompted you to want to drop your dose, and by such a big amount?

Your levels are low because you only went 1.5 weeks of the 6 weeks needed, you 100mg dosage hasn’t had a chance to build up in your system, so of course your levels are mediocre. Your levels would be a lot higher if you stay the course for another 4.5 weeks as the half lives build up in your system, you’re making this so much harder on yourself.

You’re very impatient and you do not listen to what people are telling you.

Have you not researched or learned about the steady state of t cyp? Your T lvl increases everyday for 40 days. 1.5 weeks is OK for a peak but you should not change your protocol unless something was way over.
You will never get your protocol stable if you continue to be so impatient.

I did listen to what people were telling me here (You specifically I believe) and dropped to 100mg to control E2. Scroll up!

Lowering a dose does not cause serum levels to increase. That is, going from 150 to 100 and waiting longer will not lead to higher serum levels. I will actually bet you money on that.

Going back to 150 as Dr Saya originally suggested.

Scroll up. Everyone suggested dropping to 100mg. The only thing I did “wrong” was pull bloodwork too early and that’s hardly harmful.

Again, lowering a dose will never cause a serum level to go up. I’ll also bet you money that if I stay at 100mg for 6 months, my serum T will NOT increase.
