I am going to get some labs done on Thursday. I want to get tested for Thyroid function, and testosterone levels. I don’t know how to ask for it and don’t know all the specific questions to ask.
I suspect an underactive thyroid(think that is the term) and possibly an imbalance in testosterone and estrogen(maybe). I have lost alot of weight and I was very overweight(as much as 420 lbs) for about 12 years. Being that big alone makes me think it would have screwed me up, but I think I have other symptoms. Since losing over 200 lbs, I stay cold constantly, I have had libido issues at times(though right now it’s pretty great), I am having a tough time continuing to cut fat and lean down the rest of the fat I have. I also wonder if I am responding too slowly to the time I spend in the gym(lifting, HIT and intervals).
During and after High School I was pretty strong and I am nowhere near my numbers after 3 months of consistent LP lifting and after a year of pretty frequent Crossfit(which included a fair amount of strength training). The maxes I can remember from high School was a 305 Bench, 285 squat and I cannot remember deadlift PR’s and presses. Right now, I am making very slow progress with bench. Squat seems to be going ok, but I am probaly still 100 lbs away from both previous maxes. I don’t mind the slow progress necassarily unless it is because of some hidden physiological issue that I could get corrected.
I feel like I eat well, but I probably need more good quality sleep. I eat mostly non strict paleo/primal but I have started adding more good carbs - brown rice, oats, sweet and white potatoes more fruit. I eat alot of beef, pork, and eggs with some fish and chicken. I eat protein at every meal without fail and I think I eat plenty of green veggies. I do drink beer, but honestly I don’t think I drink enough and I think I eat good enough that nutrition should not be a problem.
Any help is appreciated.
