Question…no psych evals for teachers or background checks?
I mean…does someone set themselves a blaze with ZERO red flags?
No psych evals and no background checks for me.
a competitive examination. purely academical.
Then, one year of “training” (half the time in the classroom, half the time listening to the bullshit experts who were most of the time ex-teachers and failed ones themselves).
then teaching full time.
that’s all.
If i want to give some red flags, i can speak with my hierarchy. If i don’t want, no one will ever ask.

I’m not sure which country you’re from, but this sounds quite like the British system. As a teacher I have seen many colleagues who whilst academically brilliant, do not have thick enough skin to teach. Teaching is highly stressful and you need a certain type of personality to stick it out.
That being said, I cannot understand how a teacher would get to the stage where setting themselves on fire was all they saw as an option. Surely they should have quit a long time before?
I can understand people that may want to get out of life early, some people either have real big problems or some sort of condition that makes them incapable of dealing with their problems, but I think setting yourself on fire to do it is one of those things you regret intensely the moment it starts.

Not so sure about that. Saw a video of one of these monks setting themselves on fire. The guy didn’t make a fucking sound, just sat down calmly and let himself sizzle…

The human body is fascinating. Often during burning, once the heat causes the brain to be consumed and boil, the body will usually contort into a praying position. fat can be used as a fuel source so one human body could burn for as much as 7 hours based on fat levels.
Other than that, the actual effects of burning are just now being figured out so no one knows just how much pain someone feels or when they stop even thinking.

In the west, suicide is seen as unholy.
Strange that nuns and monks are into this so much.

I always remember that Seinfeld episode where George got smart and Elaine got dumb when they abstained.
The Washington Post:
The women in Yemen have taken a key role in the uprising against President Ali Abdullah Salehâ??s authoritarian rule that erupted in March, inspired by other Arab revolutions. Their role came into the limelight earlier in October, when Yemeni woman activist Tawakkul Karman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, along with two Liberian women, for their struggle for womenâ??s rights.
Wednesdayâ??s protest, however, was not related to womenâ??s rights or issues surrounding the Islamic veils â?? rather, the act of women burning their clothing is a symbolic Bedouin tribal gesture signifying an appeal for help to tribesmen, in this case to stop the attacks on the protesters.
The womenâ??s protest came as clashes have intensified between Salehâ??s forces and renegade fighters who have sided with the protesters and the opposition in demands that the president step down.
