DAN C - that’s what I was getting at in an earlier post. I find it difficult to believe that she just fell into being a millionaire pop singer, if it’s so easy to do. I just think the question should be asked, “Why are other girls not able to do this?” While it could be cosmic luck that got her where she is, I would think there is something that separates her from others. Possibilities could include talent, drive, looks, willingness to do whatever it takes, etc.
I find threads like this funny. Mainly because those who criticize some famous hottie would fall to their knees in thanks if they could actually score a girl HALF as good looking.
JAREDNFS: That too is another mystery? Why her rather than Christina Aguilera or Shakira or similar look alikes? Better contacts? Slept with people who were better for her career (in the sense of behind the scenes and in dark offices)? Better target market? Better marketing? Support of Moms? Captitalizing on the now dead Spice Girls target market who have no idols left?
Total mystery. Can’t be totally the look, either. I recall Christina Aguilera was more angelic (normal) at start and in not too much time became the apex of dirty-girl-look. Change the look totally, yet she did not get as much impact or staying power in the market.

DAN C - in my mind, Christina started with a completely different body than Britney. Britney was full-figured relative to the waifish Christina.
I saw Christina on some sort of live thing on MTV a few days ago. My God, she’s gotten totally fat. I don’t mean that in a bodybuilder’s can’t-see-abs way, I mean she’s just pure blubber.
Yeah, I’d still hit it.

Bringing up the Britney vs. Christina vs. Shakira deal: Britney has the “more” wholesome look, “more” All American look, “more” generic pop culture music sound. Christina has a helluva better voice (I personally find it pretty damn good) but has the “dirtier/sluttier” image (not so good with the Soccer Mom crowd looking for new role models for their teenage daughters) and seems to have much more of a backbone and edginess/grit to her personality. Shakira’s look is fairly generic/typical but her sound is a bit off kilter from the generic bubblegum sounds of Britney.
Seems like America goes for the dumb bubblegum stuff over anything that’s more risque/unusual once again.
As far as people bashing Britney, I have to say for the sake of fairness, that this is in response to how the media portrays her. For all we know it’s possible she’s brilliant, strong, deep and wise. I don’t know her personally and all but from what I’ve seen of her, I’ve drawn my own separate conclusions. And no, I wouldn’t turn down the Hollywood makeover if it made me millions either. Just hope she plans for the future…

I don’t really think it’s fair to compare Christina to Britney. Christina has WAY more talent and her stuff is a lot edgier. Sure the whole “Genie in a bottle” thing was mostly to grab some market share from Britney, but she has since moved on to bigger and better (quality at least). Besides, even on Genie in a bottle, she sang pretty darn well.
Don’t really know about Shakira, I have probably heard two songs by her, and both were uninteresting to me, but THAT I’d DEFINITELY hit.

Speaking of hot singers of the day (yeah the stupid ones who can’t sing for shit but who look so good that you watch their music videos anyway), Beyonce is in the spotlight now. Yeah I don’t have much respect for any of those women, but I just thought I’d throw in Beyonce. Nobody’s mentioned her and she’s better looking than Brittany, Shakira, and J’lo. Not only would I hit that, but I’d get it on with all four of those women at the same time!
She’s ok looking. Certainly not a “10.” But if she asked me out I probally wouldn’t turn her down.
I hope every knows that you can take someone with little singing talent and through studio editing, make them sound great.

Heres another proof that image alone can give you a quick boost in publicity in the song business. It only took a billboard that said Look me straight in the eyes` (same clothing, slightly different picture) at the entrance of a big city bridge to get her started a couple of years back.
She stills sings today, although she covers more, to help her get/keep credibility back (specially after the legendary Its not my fault if baby tees are in fashion now. Im not responsible comment in the following days).
