What new lifting would you invent?

Good idea.

But how he dares to assume powerlifters compete.

If you’re in a competitive strength sport (Olympic lifting, powerlifting, bodybuilding), things are different, but training like an athlete gives you one thing that’s missing from many programs

 Sorry, but this is too easy.

I used to when I could actually put my arms straight up. Too grizzled at my old age. Also, overhead squats are impossible. Lol.

I appreciate what weightlifters can do. Love watching the old Olympics when the press was still a lift.

Me too. But what many competitors were doing diverted so far from a strict OHP that it looked more like a standing incline press.

I’d like to add… like in Powerlifting you have 3 different lifts. But in this case 3 different carry types….

I can think of a fourth carry…

lol…. I probably have a idea! Spill it!

Shrinkage and performance anxiety might be a problem during maximum physical exertion.

Lol…. I knew it!!!

Medicine ball bowling- no holes in the ball, done on asphalt, with 86lb. concrete pins. Ball is 24" hard rubber with a steel core, minimum weight of 75 lbs.

The lane is 20 feet long, And You Need To Stay In It! No powerlifters!

You have 5 minutes to knock down and reset as many pins as possible.

Volleyball type sport but with giant medicine balls, 20KG and up…no weight classes just try not to get crushed.

Dan John talked about playing ultimate with medicine balls. Was a good warmup for his throwers apparently.

You just have to keep blasting it up over the net until somebody on one side or the other crumbles!

Exactly my thought! Sort of like the Hyrox wall ball form but I would add that it has to be a full Thruster type movement where you receive the ball, squat below parallel and come back up to toss it!

This reminds me of an exercise (which seemed more of a friendly competition) that I saw Charles Bailey (elite Powerlifter) do. He laid on his back and tried to hit the ceiling with a medicine ball with both hands. Bench Press assistance exercise. BTW, he could do it.

That is amazing! LOL what has this world come to…I truly believe we could solve a lot of countries problems by getting people more fit. Too bad the majority just gets fatter and more lazy!

I truly believe we could solve a lot of countries problems by getting people more fit.

This would be a good topic in and of itself. Ted Naiman has talked about how we could solve the obesity crisis if 30% of our calorie intake came from protein. Pairing it with some mandatory games of Hooverball could help.

Totally agree it should be a topic that’s taken seriously.
People that are already fit or have been exercising for a long time take it for granted how “hard” it is for someone to even string together 1 full week of workouts.
Imagine it was mandatory :open_mouth: just as mandatory as goin to work etc.
I have read studies where they pay employees a “health bonus” if they run a certain amount of kms or get certain amount of steps. Proven to increase productivity, sleep scores etc etc. the list goes on!

Edit**: Not the article I was referring to but this covers it as well.

I don’t know if this is true, but it’s a good story so I’ll share it anyway. When I was in Singapore, we noted to our tour guide that there were no obese people compared to in the US. He informed us that all males are required to perform compulsory military service for a certain amount of time, which requires them to pass a fitness test to be able to serve. Those who can’t pass the test just go to prison and workout until they CAN pass the test. Apparently, that was a good enough motivator to stay in shape!
