What Is The Purpose Of Greens +

I know that there have been a lot of topics on greens plus lately, but a question sticks in my head. What exaclty is the purpose of greens plus. is it like a fiber additive, like metamucil, is it a general health supplement, like fish oil, or is it a vegetable replacement.

If it is just a vegetable replacement, then would drinking V-8 be just as good of an option? Another question, would it be worth cutting my fish oil from 15 caps a day to nine caps to be able to afford greens plus?

Its best use is when you can’t normally get enough veggies. So, if you aren’t eating 7 or more servings a day, then greens+ you should take.

(It supposedly is roughly equivilent to 5, but it isn’t an excuse to eat less vegtables, as whole foods are always better than supplements)

No, not really. V-8 would be an option if you’re REALLY desperate for vegtables. Its probibly too processed to be as good as 1 or 2 real servings of vegtables.

It’s a mix of veggie replacement, immune booster (anti-Ox king), and general health. Depending on where you live (eg canada like me) you can get veriations that do different things. Like detox, extra energy (works like a damn, and i am not stim sensitive, kept me up all night once), and with added multi vitamins (you can sorta taste the b vitamins in it).

Also because it is a powder it is highly bioavailable and they really have put this stuff to the test before. A few consumer labs have confirmed that it has what it says it has and should do wha it is supposed to. I take it a lot when i feel like im getting sick and i can usually avoid sickness that way.

V8 is kind of a poor veggie replacment and is high cal/carb and low fiber etc. Use it if you like but i wouldn’t depend on it. It is in the end, juice, and has all the downside that go along with juice.

Also, as a side note beware fish cap consumption when dealing with cheap caps (eg, not ocean essentials, flameout etc). This is because they have some EPA/DHA but it is usually in a base of something.

If the base is vitamin E then watch your consumption. Excess vitamin E can accumulate in your liver and cause problems. I also take an ass load of FO caps but am starting to diversify where they are from. Using different brands and sources (different fish, flax) makes it hard for any accumulation problems to occur. I’m sure ill evetually just buy Flameout.

Long and short; buy greens and use it when you have to like on days when your micro nutrients and nutrient density are low, or when you are getting sick. It’s like fish oil in that, you dont seem to notice when you are on it but when you go off it or run out you notice the difference.

15 caps a day sounds a little over the top for fish oil but it depends, how much DHA and EPA you are getting per cap. As per a T-Nation trainer you want to try to get 2-3 grams per day(of both combined i believe). I say if you can get that much on 9 caps, go for greens +

. Greens+ and other similar powders are imo not to replace vegetables in a diet, but to replace a daily multivitamin tablet.

youd probably get way too much vitamin A if you drank v-8 for your vegetable source. …

ever figure out what your PRAL score is? read JMB’s acid and bases article on the importance of being in a net alkaline base. Greens plus with help you alkalize. personally PERFECT FOOD IS BETTER, and live green juices as well are even better to acomplish that.

My caps are GNC fish oil caps. I get 180 epa and 120 dha per cap. They dont list any bases, just fish oil on the ingredients list.

Barney, what shortest straw said is correct. You want to maintain PH balance. Not getting enough alkaline and too much acid is bad for a variety of reasons. Acid producing foods come from most of our protein sources while alkaline comes from mostly from fruit and vegetables, sprouts, grasses and herbs.

Maintaining PH balance has overall health benefits and is IMO crucial for weightlifters and bodybuilders for optimal gains. Greens Plus if perfect for those of us not downing vegetables and fruits with every meal.

Greens+ also contains probiotics to replenish the good bacteria in your gut.
