What Happened to T-Nation?

Ah… OK.

Just to be clear: we’ve moved from “it doesn’t matter whether or not they are paying customers” to saying, “well, what if we ALL happen to purchase our Biotest supplements elsewhere?”

Is that about right? By “that”, of course, I mean the tacit acknowledgement of my point regarding money talking being a valid one?

Gee whiz, I wonder just how much more we can budge this stalemate if we keep at it for more than… oh, I dunno, a few posts.

Thank you.

Your forums will still be there. However, some of them will not be accessible by people who aren’t members.

Here’s a short version of the scoop – a lot of people were coming to the site, specifically, the Sex and the Male Animal forum, who weren’t members. I mean, a lot.

In general, though, a couple of forums, Sex and the Male Animal especially, have proved to be a big pain in the keister to us. People were using it as an unofficial Ashley Madison site – the site for cheating spouses. There isn’t a week that goes by that we don’t get emails from wannabe Romeos or Jezebels pleading that we delete all their posts from the dawn of T-Nation, lest their cheatin’ heart be exposed.

Furthermore, having that forum, and even the Steroid forum, prevents us from being accessible through certain search engines. “Oh heavens, that site discusses female body parts!” “They is talking about steer-oids!” Anyhow, it hurts our potential traffic immensely.

BUT, we’re not getting rid of them. We’re just making them a little less easy to find. However, once it’s completely worked out, you might just need to do an extra mouse click to find them.
TC,
Do you ever get tired of having to discuss the changes the site makes every year? Pretty sure every year that I have been a member there is another one of these “oh no! The sky is falling!” threads.

Come on folks the world changes, maybe not always for the best in your mind, but change MUST go on for any business to survive.

I say keep pumping out top of the line products and I’ll be happy. Your FREE website is yours to control as you deem fit.
No, not really. When people get pissed it shows they’re passionate about the site.

I do, however, often wish they had a little more faith in us, but that’s okay.

(Thanks!)

I think I explained our position pretty well a few pages back:

Let me see if I can help clear a few things up.

As I mentioned, we’re shifting the Forums around to better showcase our core-industry content. That is not:

a) Porn
b) Politics
c) Illegal substances
d) How many threads we can create about “being a thread killer”

Down-playing these “other” Forums and making them only accessible by logged-in, registered users helps us to better stay in the good graces of “The Google” as well as many other search engines, legitimate business and higher learning networks / ISPs. This helps us get our word out to more people about the official purpose of T-Nation. And if you don’t think that Google and private networks ban sites for “off color” content, you’re sorely mistaken.

If you’re having trouble accessing the forums that are no longer on the Forums home page because you are using an iPad / iPod / iPhone / other mobile device, we’re aware of this situation. Mobile devices do not support onMouseOver for menu actuation, so we will be adding support for onClick actions soon.

Lastly, we’re a D- porn site at best. If you’re coming here for that content, there are many sites out there that are doing WAY better jobs than we are (not that I know anything about it…).

For now, we haven’t deleted or closed any Forums. They’re all still available, you just gotta hunt a bit more to get to some.

Lastly, this response is no different from threads that members have posted nearly every single time we make changes like this. Everyone will get used to it, just in time for us to change it again. That much is certain.
Not really at all.
ouroboro_s wrote:
You’re still missing the point. It isn’t just the products that draw people to the site. It’s the people; some of whom may or may not be purchasers. However, they draw people that purchase.
Yeah… keep trying to convince us that all those Level 0’s out there are drawing as many CUSTOMERS as Professor X, MODOK, Stu, Waylander, CC, H4M et al.

The people who come here strictly to see a half-exposed ass in the dredges of this site, or to see how many inane cat pictures get posted, are certainly NOT the people who are going to make lasting customers when compared to the number of customers drawn here because of – crazily enough, I know – the WEIGHT-LIFTING aspect of this site.

Check SAMA and check PWI to get a general sense of how much cash the prolific post-spammers contribute. Certainly, you will find it to be much less than those who are regular contributors to the “main” forums. And, oddly enough, those exact same people who rack up 10+ posts per day manage to do it CONSISTENTLY in areas that are NOT related to the main themes of this site.

But, yeah, they get to argue about “atmosphere” changes without anyone being allowed to shake their heads and chuckle.

Actually you haven’t. I was asking why PEOPLE were banned not the forum itself.

That made me seriously lol.
X2

I am personally relieved that T-Nation has finally taken the steps to ban members who have had illicit affairs with other members of this board while in a committed relationship.

That kind of shit is kryptonite for a website.

Non members…so if you created a log on and password, did that make you a member or did you need to purchase something to become one?

What’s the correlation between Ashley Madison & the women of PW who can’t post anymore?

I’m not looking to create a firestorm here, but it something that needs to be addressed. I know for fact that a lot of them had 3-4x the readers/viewers than almost any thread in here.

does Anonym even work out?

doesn’t look like it to me -

“ONSISTENTLY in areas that are NOT related to the main themes of this site.”

This site has ALWAYS been about the male animal…and arguing about sex and politics are important to any male.

Haha, because what protein you use determines your opinion of a discussion forum, duh.
Please.

I don’t have a problem with specific issues regarding site navigation and such. Those are technical issues that remain factual concerns to anyone attempting to visit this place.

However, if you want to complain about changes in atmosphere or argue that you “deserve” something from the Boss Men, you are really going to have a hard time with that if you haven’t put a penny in their pocket all the years you are here.

Sorry if that stings. If you weren’t a Level 0, I’m sure your otherwise rational, business-oriented mind would agree.
All I know is that I’m glad I can click things on my Android now.

I’d like to agree but meh, he looks like he does to me.

Will topics such as Dumb Bitch Stories be tolerated on GAL, assuming no raunchy pics or explicit sexual discussion?

Actually I came to this site cause I seen this big d00d drinking Surge Recovery in the locker room at my gym in 2007. I didn’t know much about supplements at the time. He gave me this site and recommended the forums cause they are wealth if info. I have been studying this site ever since.

I started buying Biotest products cause they are good and they work. They have good science backing them up. I even persuaded my local supplement retail store to buy them.

The only reason I don’t post in other parts of the forum is because I feel I am not qualified to offer advice when I have so many questions still. And I am not going to re-post what has been posted a 1000 times.

And now your telling me cause I have level 0 my opinion doesn’t matter? Get off your online high horse.

And last but not least I come for the people and I am passionate about a great site that gives out free knowledge. If TC said I am shutting it all down I would respect that and say thanks for the great times. Cause its his place and that’s fine. All I was asking for was whats going on explanation from him.

X 2.

I had a friend at my gym tell me about this new website back in 2001, I came here to find articles involving powerlifting, rather than hawt abz stuff. I remember the fat fast diet, t-dawg, and others to be refreshing and new.

Also, I continue to see the dodging of the question about why MEMBERS were booted with no reason or explanation.
