i’m originally from new york & when u live there you are forced to be in crowds of people all the time: the subway, the elevator, the bus, the train, the street… so usually when you’re standing on line at the super market or the bank or the hot dog stand nyers usually give each other some space if they can… nobody wants to get too close too anyone else if they can help it… but here in north carolina, man everybody gets up on you… the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up! and having once been a correctional officer i like to keep everyone at arms length anyway… old dog old tricks… and what’s amazing is as one friend of mine once said, i ain’t the friendliest looking guy in town either… southern courtesy? my ass!

Ever been to Europe? I swear it’s the same thing. They don’t understand the concept of a line. Everyone just crowds in, and whoever can get the closest is in front.
I was at a french fry stand in Amsterdam, standing in the back of the line, and some people move right in front of me. I look at my friend like, “WTF!!!”. I perceive it as being a hostile act. Then when I moved to get in front of them, and looked at them as if to say, “are you gonna say something”. They just stood there, and didn’t even care. Weird stuff…
