Returned to school on Monday for the spring semester. Shoring up my skills with a welding certificate program.
Funny how things change.

I’ve always wanted to get a few certifications in welding etc… not for the work… which imo is impressive work to say the least and pays quite well but just out of interest. I like to think i’m a fairly proficient welder but man in the back of my mind I always think they must be absolutely terrible. Doesn’t help that the miller at my dads shop is roughly 25 years old and has broken a few times and we’ve ghetto rigged it sense parts aren’t made for that model anymore lol. Can’t change a lot of settings anymore but it def is a solid machine ![]()
I’ll probably take some classes once I have time.[/quote]
From what I get of it time is really what it takes, and someone to demonstrate technique and keep you on the right track. I took a night and weekend course a couple of years ago that was 4hrs. per class 3 days/week, and this one is also 4hrs/class 4 days a week.
I think that one of the major benefits to a class is having access to experience and materials in a setting where it’s o.k. to make mistakes and be able to correct them without someone going apeshit and throwing hammers at you.
Millers are nice machines. First one I was trained on. It is hard to justify the cost for a machine unless you are using it and making money though.
Company owner with my bro, plastic manufacturing, export of housewares. No university degree, it sucked and i hated working for people. Now people work for me.
Not bad for 2 eh?
