What Blood Tests to Have?

In a week I am being laid off from my job, and my benefits will be cancelled.

I have a couple of appointments set up with the 3 big docs. dentist, opthamologist, and primary physician.
Dentist and opthamologist appointments are pretty straight forward, but what I’m looking for help in is what tests I should ask my physician to run…

I’m looking for something to give me a better idea of how my bodies running as well as my state of health.
So Far:
Total Test
Free Test
B levels
Vit D levels
Cholesterol levels

STDs
Herpes
HPV
HIV

any other suggestions are greatly welcomed.

I am sorry to hear this news, I hope it gets better for you bro.

Much appreciated Maximus.
It’s just part of being one of the employed as apposed to being an employer. I know I’ll bounce back, sucks that I loose my benefits though, it was a bit unexpected, but they are giving me an extra week. Ironic that that’s considered lucky now.

I’m trying to use this extra week for getting myself a head start on the job hunting as well as taking full advantage of my benefits package.

I have an app for tuesday at 3. So any advice from now till then would be much appreciated.

Are you in the states Phoenix? You should look into Cobra coverage. You don’t want a gap of more than, I believe, 30 days. It’ll be a headache as far as pre-existing conditions goes otherwise.

You could always get the CBC with diff, CMP, BUN, thyroid panel, liver panel, etc. I guess the CBC with diff could turn out if you’ve been recently sick or have a parasite. As far as I know a lot of these tests are used more to diagnose symptoms rather than establish a baseline of health since their ranges are so wide.

If you can get insurance to pay for it go for IgM and IgG food sensitivity. Don’t bother with IgE because if you have a food allergy you already know about it.

Obamacare has already gotten rid of preexisting conditions. If it is defunded then the preexisting conditions comes back.

Cobra will look extremely expensive, but it is the true cost of that benefit. That is what your employer pays for that benefit minus the amount of premium you pay.

If you think you will find a job within 30 days then do not buy the Cobra, but if you have an accident you can retroactively buy the coverage, but it has to be within a certain period of time. Find out from your HR department what that amount of time is, I think it is 30 days, but might be longer or shorter. Just a way to save you some money if you do not need to use the health benefits.

I would suggest you buy it. If there is a lapse in coverage the insurance company will do everything they can to deny you coverage on anything that can be considered a pre-existing condition. My wife and I has to battle back and forth because my insurane lapsed about 10 days between the end of my active service and start of my new job. It was a pain in the ass.

I’m pretty sure it’s 30 days dmaddox.
