I have a blendtec and its wonderful, goes through very large chucks of ice like nothing. I got it after my 500 watt oyster blender started smoking and stopped working with a few ice cubes thrown a milk shake and my 450 watt blender broke down blending some bread crumbs.

I bought this one two years ago for about $50 or $60 (the one I got came with a red base - it may have been a special edition for Target stores). It’s powerful and definitely can chew through ice… but it’s DAMN LOUD.
I mean, it hurts my ears to run it. I actually wear a pair of Peltor ear muffs when making shakes. Seriously.
Count on it waking everyone in the house, or in your apartment building. Other than that, it’s a great blender.
