What Are You Reading?

It was so… what?
Hmmmm…

Weird ghost shit. Not scary or interesting, just weird. After the first chapter I was like “WTF is this shit I’m reading?”.

If you’ve read The Dresden Files (highly recommend), that had a good ghost stuff book.

And I had such high hopes because I thought the Lolo Long character in Daughter of the Morning Star was going to get fleshed out and expanded upon.

Well that sounds kinda crappy, I barely made it through Hell is Empty with all hallucinating and talking to Virgil.

I haven’t got that far but I was thinking Lola would be back at some point.

Much, much worse LOL!

I wasn’t a big fan of Hell is Empty, but at least I could understand why the author did it. Hell and Back, he jumped the shark lol.

People seem to love Book 19 though, so I guess Longmire might be back on track.

Try Nick Petrie, the Peter Ash series. Has a Spenser/Hawk adjacent feel to it.

I just started the Dave Robicheaux series, written by James Lee Burke, seems promising. Started in 1987, which I actually enjoy because people still do stuff like use landline telephones lol.

I just realized nothing is too old for you, since Spenser started in 1973 LOL.

One of my all time favorite characters is Travis McGee, by John D. MacDonald.

1973 is just fine for me - I quite like Raymond Chandler too!

Thanks for these recommendations - thanks @Friedrich as well!

I’ve still got one, haha. Never giving that thing up.
