Okay, I think this is the most disturbing book I’ve ever read.
Moving onto a collection of essays by Herta Müller while I wait to get my hands on Dostoevsky’s The Idiot because I am picky about the translation. ![]()

Pls let me know if you find a good one!!
I don’t understand Russian, but the translations I’ve read just feel off
Ignat Avsey.
Waiting on the rest of my cozy series to become available. I think there are 9 nine books. Halfway done.
The Fifth Assassin by Brad Metzer (waiting on The President’s Shadow)
Then started another cozy series. Hilarious.
Now I am reading Diablo Mesa by Preston and Child. The reviews for this one is ringing true. I will finish it but, it’s not their best work.
Still debating on blowing a credit on The Ink Black Heart. ![]()
Here are some of the good ones I’ve listened to lately.
You’re Invited by Amanda Jayatissa
The Last Housewife by Ashley Winstead
No One Will Miss Her by Kat Rosenfield
The Things We Keep by Sally Hepworth
The Cul-de-sac by Joy Fielding
I also tried another Colleen Hoover book, All Your Perfects. Her books seem to be all the rage right now - this was my fourth one and I’m just not feeling the love…
Currently reading: Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
Thanks! I put couple of them on the holds list! Short wait on those.
I will start The President’s Shadow when I get finished with my kitty cat mystery ![]()

There is ZERO shame in enjoying a good cozy mystery!!!
I had an alert for this thread, with the flag symbol, but I was not tagged by anyone. Does anyone know what this means?
Edit: I think it is the save symbol.
King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Modern Masculine by Douglas Gillete and Robert Moore.
The ScrewTape Letters
Us Against Them, by Frederik Backman. This is the sequel to Beartown, which is one of the best sports books I’ve ever read.
It’s about a town obsessed with ice hockey (I know nothing about ice hockey and have never even watched it on TV) but it really does a great job of explaining sports and morality, and the importance of winning at all costs vs ethics.
My other favourite sports book was The Art Of Fielding by Chad Harbach, which is about baseball (I know nothing whatsoever about baseball) but also was more about life.
I really recommend both of these - for anyone who loves sports or for anyone who wants to understand why sports is the most important completely unimportant thing there is.
Ah, I have read a few books recently. Boxer by Ryan Pinkard was a nice one.
Going to finally start Dostoevsky’s The Idiot.
I agree!! These are great books!
My Wife is Missing by D.J. Palmer
Hello Sunshine by Laura Dave
Just started:
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn
I listened to Cul de Sac… yikes those people were so crazy it made my teeth itch
thanks for recommending.
I sampled several last night. Ended up with another Linda Castillo. The Dead Will Tell.
Reread “The Tao of Pooh” I understand it much better now since first reading it in college.
Listened to Dark Intercept again so I could remember where it left off. (It was better the second time.) Now listening to Dark Angel. The second book in the series.
Lenin’s Tomb: The Last Days of the Soviet Empire By David Remnick. Excellent read
12 Rules for Life - Jordan B. Peterson
Shouldn’t have waited as long as i did to pull the trigger on this one.
I’ve been reading a lot of German books lately, but I recently finished Dostoevsky’s The Idiot. Good, but The Karamazov Brothers is way better. I’m starting My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor soon.
