I am going to be in the UK for work this Halloween, which sucks…but this was my costume last year…Diego The Explorer was never the same after coming across MJ…

Let me ask…is it wrong to not want a bunch of kids at your house asking for candy?

I never lived in a nice enough neighborhood to have kids do this anyway but I think we have a lot of kids around me now and I don’t want to be the one guy not doing the trick or treat thing.

Do kids even do this much anymore?
They do it. What my parents do (I live in an apartment complex and they don’t really do it here) is set up an adult gathering at the top of the street (their house is down in the cul-de-sac) and that way everyone brings the candy up there, no one goes past that adult gathering which is really a table with candy and people grilling out/having some beers/socializing. That way they all get to still have a good time, their houses don’t get egged/TP’d and the kids get their candy.
Honestly, this is the one holiday I hate. Most people don’t even know what they are celebrating…and I am not sure how many kids i will piss off when I hand them tooth brushes and toothpaste.
Jesus man just give the kids some candy. How can you hate something that makes kids happy? If you give them toothbrushes they’re going to be annoyed and their parents will think you’re an asshole. Or you could just give them candy like everyone else and see them smile and go on with your life.

?

I wasn’t talking about kids when I wrote that people don’t even know what they are celebrating. Kids are happy because they get candy. Halloween has a much darker history than getting candy. Celebrating shit that you have no understanding of is what you fault adults with.

When I was 10 if you gave me a fucking toothbrush I would have definitely fucked with your house

They’re celebrating Halloween. it doesn’t matter that the next day is All Saint’s Day or whatever and it’s a Pagan thing or whatnot. If the kids and many adults are completely ignorant of that minutiae then it would be impossible for them to be celebrating it. They only know you get dressed up and go get candy.

I’m sorry, but why the fuck does anyone give a shit about that comment? That comment was SO FUCKING CONTROVERSIAL that it takes several lemmings to jump in to defend all the little helpless children against a guy who might hand out a toothbrush?

Really?

I mean, fucking REALLY?

I think it’s the part about people not knowing what they’re celebrating thing. It sounded patronizing. It wasn’t really controversial. Not even all caps controversial.

Being 23 I’m kind of at an awkward age for Halloween and the whole celebration thing, so I decided to keep up with that and ordered a gigantic yellow sun costume. It seemed like the most reasonable/retarded thing I could be.

Since I live in a neighborhood with lots of little kids I’m definitely looking forward to giving out candy and everything, just seems like a fun thing to do. Halloween falls on a Sunday though this year, so I’ll be raging up in San Francisco on Friday and Saturday, in my yellow sun costume, and returning to the Peninsula Sunday to hand out sugar to the little demons.

Any good ideas on how to scare the shit out of the little kids who come by my house to trick-or-treat?

Us lemmings are always looking to protect the kids man, come on.

It just struck me as so unnecessarily negative. Halloween, to most people, is just a night to have fun and when you’re little you get some candy. I just don’t see why you’d be a spoil sport about it. that’s all.

Are you referring to my comment? I said scare, not hurt. I was thinking along the lines of the old dressing up as a scarecrow on the front porch and putting the candy next to my feet, those kind of things, nothing to over the top.

This is just my first Halloween in my new neighborhood, so I want to make sure it’s fun for everyone who comes by.

Why not put the kids into some sort of maze/labryinth like in the Saw movies. That would be scary. They have to risk their lives for candy. It would never taste sweeter.

…only if I get to toss toothbrushes and floss at them at the end.

I think that might even be to scary for us adults.
