Westside Makes You Sexy

Thanks kmc and james. Much appreciated.
The variety of movements does seem to keep me physically and mentally fresh.

On another note, I need to get my bodyweight up without getting flabby. I’ve been stuck at 194-196 for a few months.
Biggest issue is mid-day eating. Need to do more planning and meal prep ahead of time.

I read something somewhere, maybe on EFS, that typically GMs are better with lighter weight/more reps…

Hows your back feeling this morning?

Cav, focus on the positive brother. You have a ton of years in front of you. Probably 40 years!
Looking back accomplishes nothing other than learning lessons on what to do better and then move forward. And you are doing that. Just look at the progress you have made with your training. You have probably made more progress in the past 2 years than the previous 20. That’s learning and growing. It’s never too late.
that is kind of the point with Westside. similar with DoggCrapp from the bb side of things. rotate movements in and out to get stronger w/o roadblocks.
See that makes sense now, I’ve always been a fan of DC lifting. Westside is a lot more about percentages though right?

Congrats on the PR.

Yeah, I read that too. I believe it was Wendler saying he got more out of doing strict reps with 185 than with 500. Not sure you can compare the two, since the form and stresses from each would be very different.

I suppose in his case he got more out of GMs as assistance than as an ME movement. Him doing sets with 185 would be like me doing sets with 135. I can see doing 5 x 10 with 135 as a good assistance set up.

But if I want my erectors etc. strong enough so I can be stable and upright with 405+ then heavy GMs seem to make sense. I’m going to use them as an ME an assistance movement and see what happens.

Today I have some mild DOMS in erectors and glutes. Not as much as I was expecting in my hams. Probably due to too much knee flexion, as pointed out by Pete. Zero low back pain. I was sure to arch the hell out of my low back.
