Westside Makes You Sexy

.

How very cool. What is her sport?

Excellent lifting. Love my shoes, hopefully you will too.

dday, she does track and field. Such a nice girl.

Cool about the shoes.

Form on the DL looked real good throughout good stuff!

That is super cool…
How did you get involved with volunteering/working??

I have to be honest, a friend of mine asked me to be on his team. When it comes to this sort of thing I generally piggy-back on the initiative of others

I usually figure my life is busy enough but when opportunities come up to help out a good cause it’s funny how I can find the time.

Bench + bis/tris

Weight = 194. Down a bit more. Don’t really have a fat loss target. Couple more pounds perhaps.
Still beat from yesterday.

Bench (3s day)
95 x 3
135 x 3
155 x 3
185 x 3 (uh oh…that felt kinda heavy)
205 x 1
210 x 3…barely hit target reps for the day. I’ve done more for more reps. More steak.
195 x 3, 3, 3

Decline bench…not sure if I have ever done these. Bit more weight next time.
135 x 10,10,10,10,10

JM press alternate with db curls
135 x 4 x 8-10

DB curls
45 x 4 x 8-10

Pushups with 45plate…going to try these when I’m not so wiped
7, 8

Db Concentration curls
3 x 15

Edit: Fat man rows (pull sternum up to bar)
1 x 25

  • son asked for some training instruction so back to the shed
  • we did some squats…getting better not having knees shoot over toes (sit back on the toilet)
  • bench…has his feet planted, upper back tight, big breath, down slow, power up
  • db rows and fat man rows

concerning the shoes: I went from running shoes (no stability) to barefoot to chucks and now I’m reading about heals again… would those be for squating only or all lifts? just wonering.

nice pulling on the deads although your right with a lacking a little hip oomph. perhaps a few strategic corset pics might help? maybe not with your kids hanging around…

you have gained added cute points for volunteer day.

I concur with your steak diagnosis.

Now I have to ask, why for the fat man rows?

Re: the shoes, I’m not sure if they are squat only or not. I think squat only. I can’t see how DLing with a heel would help me sit back.

Yeah, those DLs were not my best. Next time they are my beeatch.

And, a corset pic on the wall as a cue to bring hips through…brilliant! I think i know just the one to use

Weight is up a bit the last couple days. Funny how eating will do that.

I was just showing my son how to do some back stuff (even at 10 he is drawn to the bench press like a moth to a flame) and he asked how many I could do. I usually do some rowing on chest day anyway that worked out OK. Haven’t done them in forever. Think I’ll add them in.

I wonder if stiff leg deadlifter can use a bit of a heel and would allow a person to pull back into their heels more? IDK. Any thoughts on that?

You’re asking me for DL thoughts? Have I entered the twilight zone?

If I think about the initial set up, the additional heel height (even though we are only talking about 1/2"-3/4") will require more knee flexion to get down to the bar.

So it would seem that the lifter will need more quad strength to break it off the floor, assuming the back angle stays the same as before using the heel. Or, if the knee flexion is the same as before the heel then the back angle is not going to be as upright which is something I actively fight against. Would this make the lift even more of a stiff-leg? Maybe that would work for the right lifter.

I’m trying to get to something like this:

Then again, shoes work for this stiff-legger. Check out the erectors in the mirror. Crazy!

Well hello Mr. Big!

Training is looking good! Nice pulls fo’ sho. 405 for 6 is HUGE! nicely done.

And congrats on surviving sports day! Sounds like tons of fun  Great pic too!

I’ve DL’d in my Oly shoes, but only because I’m entirely lazy and didn’t want to bend over to take them off (having been a barefoot DLer in the past). Sigh…seems like ages ago when I lifted anything…ok, i’m back.

Such a flatterer…thanks

Ok, so I understand you are going to Puerto Rico. I was just there. It’s friggin’ hot. So that means Maschy in a bikini struttin’ her stuff!. I envision you as the female John Travolta, working the walk on the beach, big sunglasses, a bit of a smirk. They won’t know what hit 'em.

Squats

  • not much food before training today. A 6" breakfast sandwich from Subway, 1/2 litre of milk, a decent protein shake I made with yogourt, cottage cheese, 2 scoops protein, olive oil, PBJ sandwich when i got home. Figured I would just work on some form stuff. Ended up pretty OK.

Box squats

  • i took a bunch of cues from the Dave T. article and tried putting them into practice
  • I ignored what I was supposed to do for 5/3/1
    bar x 5
    95 x 3
    135 x 3
    185 x 3
225 x 3…all this stay tight, sit back stuff is tiring. I think actually squatting the weight up is easier. Anyway I got a bit bored so…

Squats with wraps…tried to replicate my box squat technique. The thing that I liked the most is that the bar went up in a straight line and I didn’t pitch forward.
275 x 3
315 x 1
345 x 1
365 x haha…vid. Notice the perplexed look. Pleased that I didn’t bust a hand though.
365 x 1…vid. Not a PR but happy that I didn’t end on a fail.
Wraps off
225 x 10

Stiff-leg DLs
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 3
365 x 3

Video whoring starts now. And I really need to get the damn walls up in the shed.

nice squats-
last one looked good.

nice work.

good work my man

That bar was a total straight line - you kept your chest nice and high too.
I’m obsessing with the high chest these days cause I’m a chronic folder.
