I agree ddot. My erectors are pretty fried today. The increasing tension of the bands as you go from bottom to top sneaks up on you.
I’ve been avoiding the signs for a while (always a smart idea), but I’m quite sure I have a mild lower back disc herniation. I was trying to bench today and couldn’t get into my arch. Other signs as well.
Not sure how long this will be a problem but I’ll do low-back friendly stuff for a while and play it by ear.
If anyone has some advice and/or experience please chime in.

Hammer strength machine will be your best friend when you have low back issues. They let you load the hell out of your back while supporting you enough that you can avoid stressing the low back.

Good point. Looks like I’ll be training at the commercial gym for a while
Git, I’m sorry to hear about your back. I’d suggest a chiro/ART person but you’ll just nod, smile and then ignore me. That’s cool.
I was the one who started lifting seriously first, but I’m lucky in that my husband was willing to try it along with me and ended up really loving it too. Conversely, he was always big into cycling and I was willing to participate with him (sort of hating it) until I grew to really enjoy it as well. We have alot of fun together doing our mutual sports.
I just wonder, is there an activity that your wife really likes that you could participate in and in return maybe ask her to try lifting with you for a few times? It just makes me a little sad that your wife has a difficult time understanding something you are so passionate about.
You did those deads with a herniated disc? Damn. I agree with Kimba on the ART practitioner to get checked out. I’d be careful about doing too much other work with a hurt back as it is your weak link at this point and you don’t want to get completely imbalanced and stronger than it can safely handle.

Go to a physiotherapist. Probably most of us on this site have minor disk herniations of some variety, but don’t make the mistake of not treating these thigns with the respect they deserve. It’s so easu to go from mild disc herniation, to severe inflammation causing impaired nerve function and crippling pain. If we’re talking lower back you could impair your ability to f##king sit. I hate to sound like your mom, but why mess around with this?

My wife doesn’t get why I lift. She’d rather I quit, but just sighs and accepts it as yet another of her weird husband’s odd past times. She has no interest in sharing this with me, and she never will. Neither will I share in her cross-stitch. To each their own.

You’re always so sensible, Kimba. I really admire that.
My husband and I have very different interests sports-wise. I, obviously, love powerlifting. And he loves anything where death can be imminent (rock climbing, ice climbing, riding fast motorcycles). While we don’t share interests, we support/respect each other’s desire to pursue them. I don’t understand when a spouse is negative about a partner’s interests/sports.
Bummer about the back Git. Sorry to hear that. Take care of it.
Sounds like a band overuse injury to me! (joke)

Thanks James. I probably shouldn’t have lifted but I was in a mood that day to kick puppies so I lifted instead. Not very smart I know but at least I had the commonsense not to try a max.
edit:
I had 3-4 other posts that I don’t see. I’ll wait to see if they appear. Coles notes…thanks everybody. And I have a chiro/ART appointment scheduled.
Nice pulling- 375x10 with bands

I wonder what I’m going to see when I google “cat camel”
go look at the mobility thread
its not some bestiality thing
but that doesnt make you a bad person.
Nothing fixes back pain like a lap dance. Just sayin…

ahahah…if you could just pretend to be a doctor and write me a prescription that I can show my wife that would be great. Make it for about 10 refills.
“Honey, I’m going down to the peeler bar to have my back sorted out.”
“OK. Can you get some milk and eggs on the way home?”

They just TELL you they’re from Montreal. Really, they’re all from Chicoutimi…or so I’ve been told.

I am easily duped by beautiful, long-legged women. Montreal, Chicoutimi…it’s the frenchness that is the key ingredient.
It is also surprising how many are studying at University to be elementary school teachers…weird
Makes you want to go back to school eh?
Je suis canadien-français. Je parle un peu français. Juste assez pour commander une boisson.
