ME Lower

Deads

  • been a while since doing these
    225 x 3
    275 x 3
  • got lazy at this point
    315 x 1
    365 x 1
    405 x 1
    425 x 1
465 x 0…came off the floor just fine and then died at the knees. The usual problem. Initially I was pissed but then I realized that I haven’t been doing anything targeted at fixing this. I see many rack or box pulls in my future.
I will absolutely crush this weight next time.

405 x 5…first 3 were touch and go. I HATE touch and go. Completely jacks my form.
365 x 8

Rack pulls 1" below knee (will drop a bit lower next time and add weight)
315 x 6, 6, 6

Leg curls
3 x 15

Dude, you’re an animal! Nice pulling.

Thanks ddot.

I’m not hitting 500 any time soon but I think I’m am getting a handle on some weaknesses. I feel like I’m good for another 20 lbs.

To fix this dead zone below my knees, I’m going to do more speed deads (been inconsistent with these) and more elevated deads and/or reverse band deads (haven’t been doing any).

Nice pulling.

Box pulls below the knees.

Agree.

I looked around the cabin last night and found some wood for the boxes. Actually, they will just be platforms made out of 2x6s so I can adjust the height easily. I’ll put some sort of lip on them so the weights don’t roll off.

I’ve come to the same conclusion and I’ll be adding them in somewhere.

For the next 6 weeks, I’m going to put them in the ME rotation (so I’ll go very heavy every 3 weeks working to a 3RM) and do them as a lower assistance move every week using 3-4 sets x 5-6 reps.

My erectors are appropriately DOMSy this morning.

It really sounds like you have stuff dialed in. Keep it up Git!

Nice work in here, as per usual. My one-plate t-bar row is looking pretty paltry, but I’ll somehow survive.

Thanks k-k.
I bet you could do a 45 + a 10lb + a 5lb (I mean those plates are just little) if you got real mad at that bar. I betcha.

Nice pullin Git, I am still recovering from my tweak in the spring. Goal is 405 for 10 sometime in the next 3 mos. You on the other hand show some serious potential on pulling. Have you every pulled 10 plates.

Nice work Git.

Im stalled out around 455-465 too

Loving how everyone tackles this differently

I am thinking speed work
and being able to front squat with frequency
and RDL will get it moving for me

Fuck yeah, me as well, I hope to break it at the meet. Im hoping for 500 maybe by the summer? Awesome work as usual.

Thanks Dude. 405 x 10 is a solid goal. Actually, I had plans to do the same but then changed my training.
And, when I do pull 10 plates I may actually shed a tear
That’s what I’m trying to get to in the next few months.

Are you stalling at the knees?
I’m going to increase how frequently I do speed work to see if I can blast through the sticking point.
And I hear a lot about front squat carrying over to DL, but the weights are so much lower. I struggle with that connection sometimes.

Matty, we can be each other’s support group like AA but for frustrated meatheads. Meatheads Anonymous?

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends. Get all bloated and then get some PRs.

185 x 3
205 x 3
225 x 3
245 x 1…went up fast
265 x 0…same as last time. I think I know the problem; it’s too heavy. Should have done 255 and went from there.

135 x 5
185 x 5
205 x 5
