Being the obsessive person that I am, when I decided I wanted this book I regularly searched for it. Today I saw it on Amazon for $7.99 plus $3.99 shipping. I’ll see see what arrives.

Lucky you! I will be interested in what you think of it.

I really could care less about the West Point Workouts, I’m more interested in how much younger a woman he wanted than his Wife Terry who was pretty much a young teenager when they met, ha ha! Maybe the book was written before Terry?

THAT is a recipe for disaster - for ANY man!

I guess it eventually became a disaster?
It was said that Mr. Jones’s last decade was morose. “He became very discouraged and said to hell with this,”“He was bitter in his last decade. ‘Just waiting to die’ is what he said to everybody.” I’m sure his marriage to a younger woman didn’t help things for him.

Was after, its a biography. One i haven’t read

The marriage to Terri Jones was over by 1989. He had sold Nautilus by then, but had gone on to found Medx. He retired from MedX in 1996, at which point he seems to have gone into a funk.

Here’s my brief review of “Younger Women, Faster Airplanes, Bigger Crocodiles” by John Szimanski.

It is a collection of stories about Arthur Jones. The author claims that only stories that were verified were related. It gives some insight into who Arthur Jones was but probably no real revelations for those who actually knew him.

It is not a training manual. While some workout information is shared, it is not in particular detail. For example, the exercises used in the Colorado Experiment are provided, but not the reps or weights. More information is provided for the West Point Study. Although it is not complete notes it is probably enough for a couple of workout partners to use it as a template.

As an aside, I have assisted in editing a book before and have a few articles published in peer reviewed journals, though not exercise related. I am pretty tolerant of internet posts but when I pay for a book, I expect an actual editor reviewed the manuscript. My guess here is, it was reviewed but not by a professional. There are a handful of typos, not too many. The biggest flaw was the repeating of the same story (p.6-7 then on p.59) although the make of vehicle changed. It wasn’t bad for a self-published book, but clearly lacked a professional touch.

If one is interested in a bit of the back story of Arthur Jones, then pick up a copy if you can find one.

Thanks for the review!

It’s *COULDN’T care less
