So has anyone got COVID and had weird stuff happen? I’ve been on trt for over 2 years now, and had settled on 28mg of test cypionate ed sub q, no ai. All was well until Jan 10th or close to that time. I then started to have horrible night time panic attacks. I also ended up being diagnosed with COVID a few days later. The rona passed, but my night time panic did not, and I’ve started to get anxiety through the day. At one point I went 5 nights with ZERO sleep. One of the most awful things I’ve ever lived through. I thought maybe I had high e2 or something possibly, so I took a few doses of my ai. It didn’t help so I went in for labs. My labs showed these results. My estrogen was super low, so I dropped the ai, and lowered my test dose to 20mg Ed, sub q. I waited a while and some improvement was found but not much. I went back in for labs a couple of weeks ago and these are the results. My t and e went sky high!!! I’ve kept on that same dosage as I know I need to give it time to level out. At this time I have decent days, and horrible days. More decent days now than bad thank god. But my other levels pretty much went crazy. The dr had no explanation except COVID. I’m 38 years old, I usually work out regularly, but have been unable to do so in my current condition. I eat very clean, no processed food, and weigh 195 lbs @ 6 feet tall. I haven’t drank since New Years, I quit tobacco a year ago. I do smoke pot lately as it’s the only thing that helps with the anxiety and panic, but I smoke less than .25 grams before bed. I also have been taking ambien now for 2 weeks for sleep. Without the pot and ambien I wouldn’t sleep at all. I do take one grain of np thyroid daily for my thyroid too. I’m hoping that I’ll level back out and things will go back to normal for me. This Friday, I will be getting results to a sleep study I did last Friday. Any help would be appreciated.
Dates are on the labs if I didn’t get them in the correct order.
I wanted to clarify that I don’t always smoke pot. I haven’t smoked in years. I recently started when I started experiencing these symptoms. It’s against my work policies, and jeopardizes my job. I’m just desperate for relief from the anxiety and panic. If you guys can’t give me any advice, could someone maybe point me in the right direction doctor wise? I do have decent medical insurance and I’m willing to go to whatever type of doctor I need to. I just honestly don’t know what type of doctor to contact. I’m not sure my trt doctor is a competent as I originally thought. I am awaiting results from a sleep study I recently had, as I previously mentioned. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.
If anyone might be able to recommend a good trt doctor in Arizona, that would also be great.
Do you take thyroid in the AM or PM? T3 is very fast acting and can give anxiety sysmtoms. You could try switching to levothyroxine instead of Armour thyroid.
I did not change injection site. I do belly fat, as that’s the only place I have enough fat to inject. I do my thyroid in the am. I always feel best in the am. Anxiety seems to be at its worst in the pm.
Interesting. Perhaps split your thyroid dose then. T3 is so fast acting that it could be swinging your blood levels throughout your day. Take 1/2 in the am and half in the afternoon.
Secondly, ambien can do some weird stuff if taken daily. When I was taking it daily I would get crazy hallucinations. I had one where a swarm of bees flew into my bedroom, followed by a cowboy riding a bee herding and lassoing the other bees. Lol. I like ambien, but only on occasion when I really need it. Trazodone is a much better drug for chronic sleep issues.
Your liver enzymes ast and alt are high. You need to investigate this. Go to a hepatologist or gastroenterologist. But first retake the metabolic panel.
Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah it’s super weird how my blood levels went crazy. Then went back to normal. I have no explanation for it. I just know that I’m overwhelmed with the anxiety and panic at night. I’ll look into switching from ambien to the drug you recommended. Ultimately I don’t want to be dependent on anything for sleep or my well being.
If you can’t sleep because your Cortisol is still high at night You can try ashwagandha at night. May help. Add add melatonin.
It may not be trt doing this probably the covid.
But your free t and total t are high. You can try lower dose.
I had those panic attacks and sleepless night when my blood pressure was high and t was under 300 and e2 under 20. Just before I started TRT.
Up until this point I still don’t know if it was low t that did that or something like a virus that possibly caused the symptoms and low t.
That’s the weird thing. My t levels shot up after I lowered my dosage. It makes no sense. I’m going to ride my current dosage out for a few more weeks potentially, to see where I level out at. I appreciate the sleep aid tip. I am taking cortisol manager allergen free right now. It definitely seems to help.
That explains the highish T3. I’d give it some time and work on stress relief. There’s a podcast called “tracks to relax” which I’ve listed to on occasion to help with sleep. It works really well if you aren’t in a panic attack. I haven’t found much to work that well when I’m having major sleep anxiety or a panic attack.
I’m contemplating getting off trt, and attempting to go back to my original pre trt symptoms. I feel I was better off pre sometimes, or at least I can’t get it out of my head. But I’m scared of what might happen on the journey of getting off it. I can’t handle more anxiety and panic. I’m not sure if trt is even the problem. I just need pointed in the right direction to confirm something.
IMO your TRT treatment is way too high. Causing your anxiety. Find a better clinic.
I don’t think we are supposed to off sources but you should give Defy a call and see if they can sort you out.
I got through my anxiety with talk therapy, switching careers, and taking a break from the thing that was giving me the most anxiety (weightlifting). I was having anxiety from a lack of fast progress, I was hyper focused on something being wrong with me. I have since gotten a more healthy outlook on fitness and have made a lot of progress. And the anxiety has also been a gift as I’ve learned a lot about myself and how to handle new and stressful situations.
Thanks for all the responses guys. Dr just called. It turns out I have sever central sleep apnea. Sorry for my whining. It was literally driving me crazy. Kinda hard not to go crazy after months of no sleep. It feels good to have a diagnosis finally. Guess trt wasn’t the problem. COVID brought out some weird labs, and didn’t help my sleep apnea. Worrying about it, brought on anxiety. I’m sure I’m in for a long road, but knowing something brings a lot of relief already.
