I like steak. If it’s not available, a few hamburgers with the works will do.
If I have to use a powder, I go with Metabolic Drive Complete chocolate with peanut butter. If you tolerate dairy, blend it in whole milk with ice. Yummy.
Too many weight gain powders are just filled with maltodextrin and/or sugar.

Word. Add some potatoes and you’re golden.
homemade ones, better than any brand out there.
try this one
1 c calorie countdown chocolate milk
1/2 c plain yogurt
2 TBSP Natty PB
1/3 c pecans
1 scoop chocolate Metabolic Drive
5 ice cubes
700 calories of yummy goodness
yeah, if you looks up Shugart’s nutrition articles, you find several recipies for weight gainers. Just about all commercial ones are loaded with maltodextrin so you’ll gain weight - just not the kind you’re looking for.
Why would you want calorie countdown milk for a weightgainer shake?
Cytogainer if you just have to…

For me, I’d use it because it’s much lower in lactose than regular milk. I believe it’s higher in protein as well.
Met-rx just reformulated the protein plus line to have 1/3 more protein, and you can still buy it at Trader Joe??s for around $20-$25 per 2 lb. tub. Metabolic Drive is probably better, but if you aren’t a fan of mail order try Met-rx.

because i don’t want a ton of sugar like in regular chocolate milk.
at 700 calories, it meets my caloric needs per meal

Unfortunately, Met-Rx cheapened their formula a while back. Those that used the original Met-Rx usually agree that it was great. Now it’s pretty much the same as most other MRPs, which isn’t that great.
Have not used it myself but UP YOUR MASS seem’s to be ok from what my friends say who use it, and it does not have shit loads of fat or sugar.
Good luck champ.
I like HK24719’s and jehovasfitness’ responses. Combining high quality protein supplements with real food is the best way to get a ‘bulking’ meal in when you don’t want to deal with cooking some meat or eggs.
My variation:
1-1.5 servings Metabolic Drive Complete
1 cup ground oatmeal
1 tablespoon ground flax
2-4 tablespoons of any nut butter
1 banana or 200g berries
The above may be blended with water, mixed into plain yogurt one ingredient at a time, or eaten in any other combination.
This will cost $3-7. With 1 serving Metabolic Drive Complete and the banana blended, it would be the low end, the high end is 1.5 servings Metabolic Drive Complete with plain organic yogurt and frozen berries purchased at $1/100g (a high price).
Adding 1-2g of LUFAs in the form of fish oil would complete this meal nicely.
If you are really core and blending, add 100g of spinach, or just choke it down. No one will be able to say you didn’t get a well balanced, extremely nutrient dense meal. another option here is Superfood.
Also this meal could be split into two reasonable sized snacks or meal replacements for those cutting. Could you take half a weight-gainer and expect proper nutrition during a calorie restricted period?
I doubt it, why then use a weight-gainer when you need to get all those extra micronutrients to make use of all those extra calories you are consuming.

True that. Only downside is the one I use, Hood-Calorie Countdown Milk, is expensive as all hell. Like almost 4 dollars for half a gallon.
Be happy you??re where you are, $4.00 for half a gallon is often the regular price at the grocery stores here in DC.

Damn, that sucks. Well the good thing is when I’m bulking/not cutting I’ll buy like 3-4 half gallon cartons and just stash them in the fridge. I’ll only use like 1.5 cup every morning and since they have a really long shelf life I don’t have to worry about it souring.
