We Were F**king Lame

The best cartoon ever.

Late 80’s/early 90’s cartoons FTW!

It just occurred to me how fucking lame we were as kids in the 80’s. I have recently watched both the He-man cartoon and the Superfriends…and both look like the were written for 3 year olds today. I remember watching that shit in grade school.

What the hell was wrong with us?

Did we really need every villain to explain what he was about to do before he did it…as well as the heroes?

yeah, that’s a real quote. A fucking BAT SKI LIFT…and we never questioned it.

I mean, while
“Wonder Woman: Batman, give me your Bat-Saw.”
could potentially lead to some kinky mental imagery, this shit was corny as hell and treated us like we were idiots.

Were we idiots?

LOL, He-Man was even worse.
I think ‘Shark repellent bat spray’’ takes the crown lol

I’d have loved to have seen Ra’s Al Ghul in the Batman TV series. They could have killed him off every week a la Kenny in South Park.

Two words: “Star Blazers”:

The Japanese weren’t afraid to kill off some characters.

Hell, when I got Netflix, this was one of the first thing I searched (found only the Japanese subtitled movies).

I wish I had posted about my love for Starblazers on the previous page…

I’ve been trying to find an instrumental of this for so long, with no success. The search continues…
Maybe here?

Looks promising, thanks ID!

Noone’s mentioned Angry Beavers,Rocko’s Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and two of the best, Gundam Wing and DRAGONBALL Z! Lived for those shows growing up, and watching Angry Beavers and Rocko now, there was ALOT of adult comedy in there…

Dexter’s Laboratory, Ed Edd n’ Eddy, Spiderman, X-Men, Powerpuff Girls (not even ashamed), Courage the Cowardly Dog, Recess, Cow and Chicken (a bit meh)…

90s cartoons ruled.
FUCK YES

Oh man I forgot Freakazoid, Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. They had those on Cartoon Network reruns until I was like 8 then stopped them. Freakazoid made me cry with laughter.

Dungeons & Dragons:

Defenders of the Earth:

What the…that’s original Dungeons and Dragons intro?

In the Spanish version there’s a song and everyone of my age knows the lyrics by heart.

Every single episode is an extended ad designed to sell trading cards (and later on, video games).
The only thing I gotta say is that actually, the video game came out about 8 months prior to the card game in Japan. The video game came out about three months prior to the card game in the US.

Pokemon fanboy back in the day here…even was dumb enough in middle school to buy the japanese version of Pokemon Yellow so I could have it before all my friends since the english version wasn’t released yet.

Because it was horrible?

Man, I loved that shit when I was a kid, watched it all the time. And for nostalgia purposes, yeah, still awesome. But watch a few episodes and and put aside the nostalgia and tell me it wasn’t crap…

gotta say 80’s cartoons still better than 90’s \
The fuck outta here. Street Sharks,Biker Mice from Mars,Extreme Dinosaur,Darkwing Duck,ExoSquad,X-MEN,Dark Stalker,Spiderman,I can go on for days.

Beavis & Butthead crush everything.
Tranzor Z with the robot lady with actual missiles for tits.

He-Man, Superfriends, Spiderman, Transformers
Ulysses
Fat Albert
DangerMouse
Pink Panther
Robotech

90s
TMNT
Bravestarr
Thundercats
Count Duckula
COPS
MASK
Pinky and the Brain was good - Egad Brain! Narf! Anger me Pinky, hit me!

I really wouldn’t say it was horrible. The entire Piccolo saga, then the arrival of Vegeta, Namek saga, then Cell coming and wiping out everything (I didn’t like he made that tournament though), etc. was great. I didn’t like it much from there.

I have very good memories of the entire thing and there’s tons of “magical” moments.

Whatt?

No love for Getter, Mazinger, Gundam, Votoms, Macross, Grandaizer, Harelluyah Boy II, Slam Dunk, DBZ, Captain Tsubasa J???

This thread is apocryphal

Haha!

I loved DragonBallZ! I hated the theme song in French. Very monotone. And boring. Still bores me till this day.

I’ve watched a couple of episodes recently and I couldn’t help chuckling and shaking my head at the ridiculousness of the dialogue and scenes.
