Waterbury Method-Out the Door

I am not one for bashing anyone on this site. That being said, I can not stand by any longer while Waterbury claims he made Heidi Montags body look the way it does. Unless he moonlights as a plastic surgeon, I think there is a lot more to the molding of Heidi Montag. She has made it publicly known she has had several procedures including the glute implants.

I used to have a lot of respect for Waterbury. Until he became mr. Hollywood. Now I do not have a problem with someone furthering their career, I just have a problem with using lies to cloud the minds of those who read into his stuff thinking they are going to look like Heidi Montag after dumping money into a Waterbury book.

Understood that there are several people out there who made great gains on Waterbury methods. This is just a rant. I am not a complete Waterbury hater.

i agree; since i’ve been following this site, he has seemed like a pretty boy. you could check out the Tate and Wendler training ideas; they don’t bs and their advice is solid. i like their stuff a lot.

FWIW, he claimed responsiblity for her body as it appeared in Playboy, pre-glute implants.

Why is he posing with his fists up?

Is this supposed to convey the image of a serious tough trainer to the target market?

I’m sure Chad’s getting a nice royalty of sales and laughing to the bank. Heck, maybe he was able to get a piece of Heidi when the work was done.

In fairness hes gone from bullshitting people about getting bigger to bullshitting people about getting smaller. So its not like its that much worse.

God bless the internet.

I guess his moral of the story? If I can get this waste of life in shape, I can transform anybody to the body they want.

PMPM just ruined the OP’s argument about the implants. Is there any other reason you don’t like him?
I get that he’s the pretty boy and all that, but he does give useful information.

Eeeeehhhhh, it’s what good self-promoters do. I wouldn’t take it personally.

he is director of strength/condition at the rickson gracie school in LA- hence, the link with combat/fighting. i think that should answer your question (as to why fists up).

Yes he sold out for some money and celebrity…Alas, if only I could do the same.

I love how all you haters come out of the fucking woodwork when a guy does something that gets him some fat cash or extra media attention. Get your own clients then personally train them and to be better then C.W. or you should shut the hell up. Of course that bitch has had plastic surgery and a lot of it, so what, if she is happy training with Chad and likes the results and he can make big bank more power to him!

I understand he trains fighters. I was questioning whether or not it was the right image for the target market for the Heidi workout.

The real irony is that you are criticizing people for doing the exact same thing you just did in your post. Judging people. Hypocrite fail?

I dunno. Using his loading and rep parameters on a 3x10 got me a 320lb. bench press out of a 160lb. frame.

I don’t like when someone takes credit for another persons effort and results, but give credit where credit is due. If you use his recommendations as he outlines for the reasons that they were intended, a given person should achieve a good result.

Anther thing to consider is this- If some fitness fad bandwagon rider stumbles upon the likes of Waterbury, Thibaudeau, or any of the other heavy hitters of this industry, even by accident, they certainly could have done worse. All of these guys adhere to and design their programs around some very solid fundamental principals of strength and conditioning. There isn’t a single one who is just pulling theory and method out of their asses.

Any personal trainer who says they wouldn’t accept a popular Hollywood client, and then maximize the publicity value of that client (even if it temporarily takes them 180 degrees from their primary client base), is either lying through their teeth to sound cool or they have a terrible business sense.

I actually purchased the Heidi Montag Workout because I wanted to know what the hell it was before forming an opinion. You know what it is? It’s a solid fat loss workout (that includes, among other things, deadlifts, front squats, and squat thrusts) that’s ideal for women who’ve never trained before.

It also gives solid, basic nutrition advice that we here are familiar with (the importance of healthy fats and fish oil, how to control insulin levels, things like that all explained simply and effectively.)

I’ve said before that I’d much rather have an untrained female do something like this rather than take some cardio salsa dancing class or do some generic routine out of Shape magazine.

Like PMPM said, the workout plan came out at least five months before Montag’s People magazine cover story about her multiple plastic surgeries. When I saw the mag at the supermarket checkout, my first though was, “Wow, she really fucked Waterbury with this.” It’s not something Chad had any control over. In the workout book, he specifically states that she contacted him to get in shape for the Playboy shoot.

Not to mention, I remember looking for the pictures he used to promote his Heidi Montag program, and found that he used a picture of her from long before she was being “trained by him” giving the illusion that it was the training that made her look like that.

Is this chick famous or something? A google search only gave me a bunch of hits for plastic surgery.

Oh yeah bone? I didn’t realize you had just made a shit load of money or trained a famous client. Since, I doubt you have what has really happened is a Reading Comprehension Fail, due to you not being able to read and understand a post.

I am telling all you HATERS to do some thing yourself before you knock a guy who is successful in his career. I think it is funny how people that have not done shit all can try to knock a guy down when he actually makes good money.
