Adarqui, when you started this thread you were 147, but then you said you were 152 within the past day or two. What did you do to gain? I know there are a lot of dudes around here with similar physiques to yours who have trouble putting on weight, but it seems effortless for you. Way to go!
Also, you were getting letters from D-1 schools after only playing JV your sophomore year of high school? Very impressive. Were they anticipatory rejection letters?
And I’m not trying to be a bitch to you, flipcollar, but Adarqui won’t fit in at a PL meet because his squats are too high. Even for the SPF.

are you kidding me? I posted that video on rossboxing, an actual boxing forum, and it got nothing but praise. I am very fast, my strikes are very powerful, I’ve had plenty of knockouts in hard sparring sessions, believe you me, that is not bullshit. I usually spar people 170+, as finding sparring partners under 150 is quite the task. So, my power holds true, being 147, fighting 170+ people.
Really? I’ve trained for years at American Top Team and AKA, also seminole warriors boxing gym and Punch Fitness. I’ve sparred with plenty of people you’ve seen on WEC and even some people from Pride (Denis Kang).
I’ve seen your pics in your T-Nation profile, you are pretty pale and soft looking. I am not one to judge your fighting ability from a picture, that would be ignorant, so I will not stoop to your mental midget level and act tough on an internet thread.

Well, I want 4xBW half squat strength for speed, and a 50" running vertical jump, 4.2x 40 yard dash, and sub 10 100m dash. The lighter I get, the more powerful and healthy I feel, i’ve been 142 before and I felt great. 130 is my goal now, as long as i maintain strength, I will become competitive on the elite level, when i hit 130.

If so, there are PLENTY of open T&F meets in Florida, so enter one, let’s see your actual jumping ability. Let me know when it’s on the USA T&F postings. Are you training to dunk? Ok umm, I think the “elite” level for those who are dunking is the NBA. To be considered “elite” you need to have people to compete against. Otherwise you’re just King Shit of Turd Island.
BTW PMPM, I would like to see the letters he got for a half season of JV BBall as well. By all accounts I got letters from several DI schools as well, but a recruiting letter, and general information letters are two very different things.

I don’t often post, but this thread is going to go down as one of the most epic threads in T-Nation history and I would really like to be a part of it.
In regards to the OP, can I suggest adding some parallel box squats into your vert training? I think it will probably provide you with better power than half squats. And umm I guess good luck with your goals! Especially while you lose upper body lean mass and give yourelf a muscular physique with apparent traps when you look in the mirror.
Oh and one final thought, crack and meth would probably help in your goal of looking like skeletor.

Professional dunker, plan to compete worldwide in various dunk contests.
I’m a double leg jumper, not two. I plan on entering some open meets when I get down to 130, but for 60m or 100m sprinting. My sprinting will eventually be near elite level, it correlates perfectly with my jumping. So when I hit 50" running vert, my 100m should be low 10’s.

Dunking has nothing to do with NBA. NBA is basketball, dunking has become it’s own sport. I plan to compete in the elite level dunking circuit, worldwide, including romania, bulgaria, france, england, canada, all throughout the usa, etc.
I no longer have the letters, I burned them when I went through my bout of depression which caused me to drop out of high school.

Why would box squats be better for vert than half squats? Box squats have less specificity. By sitting back on to the box, you break up the EIC (eccentric-isometric-concentric) component.
Regardless, it doesn’t matter, getting very strong in box squat, deep squat, or half squat will transfer to vert, the amount of transfer, IMO, will be highest for the half squat due to specificity. Though, short leg/long torso individuals who are built for deep squatting should probably continue to squat deep. Longer legged, short torso individuals, which mostly fit the “basketball/high jump physique”, ie, lanky, can make ALL of their progress half squatting.
But in the end, it’s all about pushing your limits in those movements as a supplementary stimulus to jumping & sprinting.
edit: I actually prefer PIN SQUATS over box squats. Pin squats are highly underrated. I myself stick only to one squatting movement (half). I don’t believe in “switching it up”. Contextual interference works, but more so in the set & rep ranges, not for the movement. If you want squat to transfer better to vert, stick to the same movement. Front squats would actually be most ideal imo, due to the extra quad involvement. The P-chain & Anti-calfs nazis have successfully reduced the importance of the quads in vertical jumping, which baffles me. I rep quad-nation for life.

The ironic thing about facebook is that I actually havn’t had a “friend” since high school. All of my friends went to jail for slanging crack and boosting whips.

Quick question, does anyone know if I can compete in a show? I’ll be 130 completely shredded, ripped out of my mind, and i’d love to do a show. I’m pretty hairy and pale, but I embrace it, so I wouldn’t shave down or tan.
Is there just a fee?
At 130 my physique will look more along the lines of Frank Zane, in this picture:
If I let my beard grow out, I would look strikingly similar.

Hey adarqui I’m still not sure if your legit or not but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Here is some info that may help you with your 50inch vert quest
It has been concluded that the arms work their positive effect by exerting downward force on the body as they were swung upward early in the jump. Slowing down the contraction of the quads and glutes, thereby keeping them in the region of the force-velocity curve and the joint angle where they could exert more force.
So I would say that doing horizontal shoulder adduction exercises would actually benefit your jumping as you can create better power in the prime movers for this movement and therefore help create downward force on the body
