Got a Costco membership last weekend and cooked some New York steaks, need to up my grill/photo game

Love me some Costco! They have good deals on quest bars too.

I prefer charcoal for steaks. I arrange the coals to only take up half the grill. I sere both sides with the lid off then move them to the “cold” side and put the lid on to finish them

I think it’s called “indirect heat” grilling.

Yea, that’s what I do on my grill too but it’s propane, which is meh but easy. I didn’t want to stand in the rain though so I seared 2 in a stainless steel pan and then tossed them in the oven. Did the 3rd exclusively in a cast iron pan, which turned out the best. Didn’t get a good enough sear on the stainless ones but that was my fault.

Just feelin kinda bleh and having a mini pitty party so worked out at home tonight. Also tried some new stuff from my bfff John Meadows

Really likes the barbell rows for the lats, great contractions and pumps. The other rows to target the rhomboids/lower traps I had a little harder time with. They hurt my left shoulder a little.

The dumbbell pull overs were tricky as well, I could feel the stretch, but couldn’t feel the contraction coming back up :pleading_face:.

For triceps I did weighted dips
Ezcurl bar slight incline skull crushers
Rope/straight bar pull downs

Good shoulders tits and bicep workout.

Used the 80’s for my first working set of DB OHP. Got 7. Then used the 75’s then 70’s.

Got my kids this weekend so no more commercial gym till next week. Gonna do legs this weekend and probably have an arm day and call it good.

I’m becoming more interested in how much I can DB OHP now, don’t know if i’ve ever touched 80s before but imagine I could probably get a few reps up if I can get them in position.

Yea getting them into position takes a lot of effort. I’m guessing it takes Atleast one rep away :joy:

Gonna skip working out today. Started working on my truck around 10 and worked till dark. Had 1 cylinder with super low compression so through some new rings on it. Hoping this fixes it. Just replaced the motor, with this bad one :weary:. I’ve had some serious vehicle drama since November and it’s still not over. Back definitely got a cardio session in.

Oh man. Worked all weekend on this damn avalanche. Neck is so tight, wrists and hands are beat up and tendons sore BUT

KILLER back and tricep day. So sweet.

Some dude tried to steal my phone at the gym and then play it off like he thought it was his. Lesson learned. Damn piece of shit

Reason #342 of why I love having a home gym. The only person I’m worried that will steal my phone during a workout is my toddler.

Had a really good tits and shoulders workout today

Got 9 reps on the 80’s for OHP. Felt nice. 2 sets with the 80’s then dropped down to 70’s.

Did some cable flys too, felt nice and juizy. Only did one chest press exercise as I just wasn’t feeling it today for tits.

So many dumb people in the gym today. The guy who eats in the gym and walks around like he’s the size of Mr. O was extra annoying today. Sets up a seal row bench in front of the dumbbells the proceeds to do 2-3 half reps and drop the bar. So loud and annoying.

Decided to give squats one more chance, because I hate them and love them.

Warmed up by getting a solid pump doing leg curls, leg extensions, banded glute insta-thrusts, and those bend over with the barbell things. Name escapes me :joy:

Did 135 x 10, felt good…
165 for a few… ok, this feels nice
225 x 10 felt great, but my glutes reminded me we haven’t done this in a while. Had DOMS before I even racked the bar :joy:
Decided to call it here as these felt light and pain free! Gonna take it slow (famous last words :roll_eyes:)

Been about a year since I picked up anything off the ground, so figured I’d ease back into deadlifting by using the trap bar for bit.

Nice and smooth. Felt good to pick something up again!

Did 1/4 of the Matt Kroc 1,000 rep arm workout. I was gonna do it all but DAMN does this take for ever.

I really like it so far, but struggling to figure out what weight to use. I much prefer things like “heavy AF for as many reps” having to pick a weight for 5 x 20 is tough. Idk how hard it should be

Pretty shitty back and tricep day. Just felt so weak. I haven’t had enough to eat today so that’s probably why.

Been keepin up with the incline EZbar skull crushers though, so that’s good! Hopefully I’ll see some form of tricep muscle start to develop soon :joy:
Tried to finish with cable push downs but my left shoulder just wasn’t having it.

And as I’m writing this I just realized I skipped rear delts today. Fuck. I knew I was missing something.

Woke up dreading leg day, fully aware that today wasn’t even leg day. Guess that’s the welcome back present of squatting :joy:

Almost grabbed the 100’s just to see if I could get one poverty rep as the gym was empty. Decided not too when warming up :joy: even getting the 60’s up was painful.

Did manage 8 reps on my 2nd set of 80’s though :scream:

Press felt like absolute trash. Only did 1 press variation and nothing else for chest

Second go at trying to finish the 1,000 rep arm workout. Made it to 740 reps before I ran out of time. Gotta eat second lunch and shower and get ready for dinner with GF and her sister who came into town today.

Finished the workout with a set of body weight dips.
Idk how I feel about this workout yet, granted I haven’t finished it so I should probably do that lol. I think o still need to dial in the weights a little more.

Quick leg day. Did a few reps with 315 on squat and got excited and added more plates. Got under the bar and then realized I had been here before and reminded myself that I JUST said I’d take it slow :joy: so back down to 225 for some pump work

Really hoping this pain free squatting lasts. I miss it so much. I’ve been jonesing to run a strength oriented program for a while now, so this is making me want it even more. I think after I finish my cut for summer/Transformation I’m going to work on building a respectable big 3.
