Wow last update was back in Mid-April…I think I worked out a couple times around then but just didn’t log it, so that would put my non-workout status at approximately 5 weeks. That is UNSAT.
There’s been a lot going on:
-First I started dicking around in the PWI section of this forum. I have no idea what it is about that toxic waste dump but somehow whenever you start posting there, you forget to workout. I still have no idea why so many people who don’t lift participate in the politics section of a weightlifting site
-Moved into my new house with my girl. We finally got everything unpacked and it’s looking real good. I have a garage to play with my Jeep and my Bike in…been doing all kinds of mechanical/electrical shit to them over the past month. Going to put a bed-liner down in the back of my jeep and replace the stator in my bike sometime in the next few weeks.
-Hurt my elbow doing heavy partial side laterals (WTF) which might be the dumbest exercise on the planet. This was at least a month ago and it still hurts while extending it, but especially when I extend it and try to twist it. Went to my ART guy a couple times about that but he is about useless and I’ve since fired him. I think it just needs to be popped back into place, but all he did was rub on it. I have about decided that ART is the most over-hyped useless trend in the weightlifting community today (kinda like Paleo, barefoot running, and crossfit).
-My headaches are mostly gone. Still get them occasionally but not nearly as frequently or as intensely. The doc did a blood patch to the area where they basically withdrew 30 mL of blood from my arm and injected it into my back to heal the dural puncture. No idea who thought of that but it seems to have done the job.
-I am completely pain free in my leg and back. No sciatica pain at all anymore, and the back only bothers me when I am stressing it in extreme positions or under load. I’ve been going to Physical Therapy and that seems to have been helping. The PT noticed my SI-Joint was a bit out of whack during my first visit (which I had told my useless ART guy months ago and he did nothing about) and she (yes it was a female) was able to get it back into alignment with one try and it has stayed that way for over a month now.
-I am still seeing a surgeon since I still have a hernia, just with less pain. It is affecting my power output in my left leg…I can’t balance on that leg at all and the dorsi-flexion is very weak, thought it has gotten slightly better. He has me doing an EMG nerve study next week, in addition to the second MRI he had me do last week, before making a decision on whether to operate. I would rather just get it taken care of so I don’t end up in this situation again next week, month, year…whatever…I’d rather just smooth it all out and go about living my life without having to worry about it.
Edit: Added
-I figure since I’m still in limbo about surgery and can’t really plan out a proper training cycle or set any real strength goals, I might as well try to get in a little bit better shape. I am going to be following a clean diet with mostly low carbs/high proten & fat for most of the day, with high carbs/protein around workout time. I will be conditioning 4 days a week, at a minimum. Probably Prowler for the most part. I will also be focusing on stretching and staying loose and mobile.
I guess that’s all for now
