haha…yeah I figured that out after staring at it for a while…though I have no idea why your phone thought it should have been KDDI. What kinda stupid acrnoym is that? Seems like you’re getting better at the phone usage now!

How many scale pounds are you looking to lose? You look SO DIFFERENT from where I remember first seeing you.
Totally awesome!
Shit, I’m still the same ol’ G. More hair, same meatheadedness…
I don’t really have a goal for scale weight–that shit really doesn’t matter to me at all…goal is to just lean out while preserving/increasing strength. Improving my lipids is a big priority right now, as is increasing general athletic ability. I can make it through 10 minutes of my bball games now playing pretty hard before coming out, which is a far cry from where I used to be when I was playing in college, but a huge improvement for me over the past couple years.

haha I hit 275.2 this morning on the scale. It was scary…I immediately went and chugged a protein shake and freebased a twinkie…disaster averted
lol I had forgotten all the Rules of Rhodestown…thanks for the refresher
18.2.1 - 2/20/21
Squats: Warmups, 310x5, 355x5, 405x5
SSB GM: 125x10, 150x10, 175x10
Ab Wheel: 5x12
Got a video of the last set of GM’s for a form check:
Can’t really tell if my lower back is rounding or not…I would be very surprised if it were though given my pelvic tilt and natural back arch…think it was just the way the cage bar was situated and my shirt…
Squats were tough tonight, but got them done for minimum reps. Went out and got shitfaced last night for a President’s Day superhero bar crawl…pretty fun…I went as The Hulk…hence the picture…
This is my only high carb day this week. Cardio the rest of the week…blarg
I won’t comment on the wanna be WoWo in case that’s ur GF.

That’s not very nice! Not the g/f but a good friend of mine…my little lady was outta town for the weekend…she would have made an awesome She-Hulk!
Most important thing about GM form is that you feel it all in your back and hammies… I think doing it any way that allows the proper muscles to be stimulated is fine.
That being said your feet are pretty wide and I don’t think flaring your toes is typical on GMs.
scj119 wrote:

Good point…I was trying to do them how I normally stand though, and due to my assymetry and biomechanical issues, that is actually the way I stand! I’ll move my feet in a bit and try to keep my toes pointed and see how it feels next time around.
2/21/12
Was on travel all day to the left coast and just skipped my cardio session. Stuck to the diet though…packed a bunch of shit before left and carried it on with me to the plane…have enough grub for the entire week I’m out here, which is pretty amazing considering I eat 6 times a day.
Shitty part was I got a free first class upgrade for my flight but couldn’t partake in the free booze and cookies…boooo
18.2.2 - 2/22/12
Bench: Warmups, 235x5, 270x5, 305x5
Pullups: 7, 7, 7, 6, 7, 7
Incline: 150x10, 180x10, 210x10
Face Pulls: 4x15
Cardio: 30 minute steady state on elliptical (135 BPM HR)
Bench felt light and easy. I was using the gym on base and some faggoty ass anorexic dude comes up to me in the middle of one of my warmup sets and yells “ARENT YOU GOING TO PUT COLLARS ON THE BAR???”…like it was some sort of god damned national emergency…I told him not until my working sets and dismissed him…
This tosser goes to the front desk and complains and I get a “stern” talking to from one of the trainers about how dangerous it is to lift without collars…what the fuck…is everybody in the pacific northwest a tree hugging pussy?
Finished up my workout with the safety collars installed and luckily did not injure myself or cause 9/11 due to my recklessness.
Getting a little bit of a popping sensation in my left elbow during inclines though. Moving my grip in a bit seems to help a bit. Speaking of closer grip, I have moved my regular bench grip in to pinkys just inside the rings. Watching videos of KK, who has similar leverages to me, I noticed he has a much narrower grip than what I had been using and have been giving it a go and feel much more comfortable in this position.

I prefer my WoWos to be JACKED AS HELL.
Your friend is very pretty.
And ooh gosh I love She-Hulk. I prefer the Adam Hughes variety.
And this is why we should be able to just punch people in the stomach for complaining about dumb shit like that. And you shouldnt get in trouble if the situation desevers a punch in the stomach.

Just because you got lucky this once does not mean he had no point. I can’t believe you would be that reckless.

18.2.3 - 2/24/12
Deadlifts: Warmups, 320x5, 370x5, 415x5
Base gym was crowded as all hell and I got there late due to traffic, so didn’t have much time.
This took me a bit over half an hour because I ran into one of my buddies I hadn’t seen in a while (yes I randomly run into people I know in a gym 2,300 miles from my house) so shot the shit with him for a while. He is doing 5-3-1 as well so we updated each other on progress.
Then this younger dude watched my last set and was deadlifting himself and asked me for some advice on his form, so I helped him out a bit. He was coming up onto his toes somehow, which I have no idea how you would possibly do that. I tried it to demonstrate what he was doing and it damn near caused me to shit my spine out. I have no idea how this guy hadn’t injured himself. Got him to set up closer to the bar and get his ass back more with scapulas retracted and he was repping out 225 by the time I left.
So that’s two people in a couple weeks that asked me how to lift in the gym while I’ve been on travel. As noted before, people in my gym hardly talk to me, unless they notice I’m doing 5-3-1. Maybe I look friendlier now that I am svelte without a shaved head?
Might do some ab wheels in the gym here in a few minutes if the hotel has an apparatus. Going to hit up some cardio (30 minutes steady state on ellpitcal) here in a bit too. Not motivated at all. But there is a hottub awaiting me, so I might as well suck it up.

- I don’t know why I’m not getting emails about your updates anymore - they seem to come when they want to
- You are much prettier, I mean handsome, with hair
- What did you wear into this hottub? I distinctly remember folding your swim shorts last night and thinking - aw, he forgot his shorts for the hottub!
- Thank you for saying I’d make a great she-hulk (I think that was a compliment) - we would be the best superhero couple ever - especially with Hercules as our pet!
- Maybe we can do a photo shoot next time we go to the gym - set up lights and everything - don’t let anyone use any equipment within a 10 foot radius, even if we aren’t using it. I was angry - and you know I normally just brush stuff off.

18.2.4 - 2/25/12
Conditioning in morning
OHP: Warmups, 155x5, 175x5, 200x5
Pullups: 6x5
Floor Press: 150x10, 180x10, 210x10
Face Pulls: 3x20
Easy day. Losing my balance on OHP a lot here lately and falling backwards, which is kinda weird since that’s never happened to me before. Maybe having less gut is throwing off my balance a bit? That would be sweet.
So funny anecdote from this session. The cable pulley station I was using for face pulls basically has two “pulley stands”. I don’t really know how to describe it, but one of them is adjustable where you can move the pulley unit up or down depending on where you want the pulley attachment to be located. The other side is stationary and only attaches up high, so its basically only good for triceps pushdowns. I use the adjustable one for face pulls so I can adjust it to face height so I’m not pulling down at an angle. I hope that is clear.
So I was supersetting face pulls with my floor press, and whenever I would go back to do floor press, some moron was taking the only rope attachment and moving it from the adjustable side to the stationary side to do pushdowns. I couldn’t figure out why, because all he would have to do is adjust the unit up and leave the rope where it was. I even mentioned to him he didn’t have to move it and it was adjustable, he was like “its all good man, i’ll move the rope for you”…so he starts moving it back and forth to my side after he is done with his set. Ok whatever, but I’m still confused. Then I realize that he is looking at his muscles in the mirror during his set. The stationary side exposed his right muscles, which were slightly more developed I guess, while the adjustable side would have exposed his less-developed left. This tosser was literally moving the rope so that he could better admire his body whilst working out. I wanted to punch him in the face…with my right hand of course, sicne it is better developed than my left.
Diet this weekend was a travesty. Had actually gained weight for the week despite following the diet pretty closely while on travel, so decided to say fuck it for the weekend.
Went to the Melting Pot with Polsen (she is really my g/f and not some weird stalker chick that folds my underwear while I’m on travel) and grubbed down, especially on dessert. Then we went and bought wine and candy and chilled at home. Then yesterday I ate an entire pizza and a huge ass burger and drank a bunch of beers. It felt good to get off the wagon for a day and eat some of the things I had been craving.
Going to hit it hard this week and stick to it 100% the rest of the week. Hopefully the “refeed” will move the scale in the right direction again.

I just realized my response to this, which I edited into my post to SCJ got rejected after the fact. Incredibly lame they don’t even let edits in your own fucking training log go through.
But I said something to the effect of all is forgiven as long as you keep posting hot cartoon chicks onto my wall…is that weird?

Damn straight dude…I’d be punching people left and right though!
18.3.1 - 2/27/12
Squat: Warmups, 355x5, 405x3, 450x6
SSB GM: 165x5, 190x5, 215x5
Ab Wheel: 3x15
Pretty tough session. Felt heavy, just wasn’t really into it. One rep shy of PR but no way in hell I would have gotten that one–thought my head was going to explode on 6. This was a high carb day so got a nice bloat going on! Up 5 pounds from yesterday’s weigh-in haha
Also had some time to kill on the plane back to DC on Friday so got into my 531 Excel spreadsheet and mapped out my meet prep shit for the next meet I’m doing, which is the 100% RAW - American Challenge on June 9th down near Charlottesville. Tim Henrqiues and the rest of the team are going down to it, and its about 8 months from my last meet so a good time to get back on the platform.
I’m going to be running 5-3-1 for Powerlifting Meet Prep Template for it, with an 8 week prep period. Prep will start on 16 April, which is conveniently perfect to let me finish up this cycle and one more including the week I’m going to make up after going to Aruba in March for a week with no lifting.
Attempts for the meet are going to be:
Squat - 495/535/580
Bench - 355/385/415
Deadlift - 510/555/600
The Bench may be a little ambitious and might have to readjust at some point but for now I’m going to give it hell and see what happens. Really want to finally break the 400 bench barrier and 600 DL barrier at this meet though…
I was actually thinking about that contest too
