Did anyone else catch the Zombieland reference last week when Merle told Michonne not to forget the cardio? Got a chuckle out of me.

They should move the group back to Rick’s town and leave the prison. The crazy man’s set up is pretty good and could be easily expanded.
-
I was happy to see the tactic of using birds, etc, as zombie bait. I’d been thinking that for a while — be very easy to set up “zombie traps” around the permiter of your zone to attract zombies before they actually got to your walls or whatnot. Thin out the herds, so to speak.
-
If they didn’t take grenades the crazy man had, they are idiots. Grenades are very handy in close combat with solid walls (e.g., arc the grenade around a corner).

My vehicle of choice would not be a Hyundi. It’d be a Peterbuilt or something. You could push cars out of the way and you are safe from zombies that can’t reach the windows or climb well, if at all.

Weld blades on the sides and just mow em down as they go through hords.

And what about that backpacker? Besides having lost all their humanity by not taking survivors begging for help (although they have a huge prison) they also lose the possibility of getting the group bigger and start building a town. You can take guys, put them in a controlled cell block (you can do that in a prison), testing the newbies for a while, then include them in the group somehow. It is not that difficult…

People also need food, water and other provisions. An issue I don’t think they address enough in a television series. The last time they even showed food was the season premier when the group was going to split a can of dog food. In a later episode Darrel shot a posum and said “Dinner” but that hardly fed as many people as are currently in the group. What have they been doing since?

Uhm … there was ample food in the prison pantry

Sounds great in a world with unlimited resources. They could use it to swing by the grocery store and then the gun shop on Sundays.
Definitely enjoyed this episode. Getting away from scenes in different locations makes a huge difference on the flow and feel. And I just found out that my cable provider has this season’s last few episodes available “on demand”, so I can re-watch them. That was neat to discover.

Script? They even gave her a freaking joke! “We’re eating the man’s food now?” “Well the sign said 'welcome.” Definitely a good surprise performance from her this episode.

Explosives are unreliable. As we learned from the Governor’s fish tanks, walkers are still dangerous until the brain is damaged. Even with frag grenades, I don’t think you can guarantee head trauma. Useful for mass “incapacitations”, but not a guaranteed kill.

An episode or two ago, Glen mentioned that the prison food was almost gone.

They should start eating the walkers. Beat them at their own game.
I think the grenades were more for the Governors group. They could seriously wreck that town REAL quick. They could even put siege to Woodbury…lobbing grenades from outside the wall…circling the place in vehicles, and then having someone with a good sniper rifle watch the walls and the gate.
The gov would either have to 1) Man the walls with his troops, exposing them to sniper fire and grenades, 2) cower and hide, at which point Rick and Company could knock down some barriers with the grenades, draw in walkers with the noise, and then take advantage of the chaos and further the attack, or 3) they have to come out the main entrance and are picked off, and blown up.
Granted, Ricks numbers are maybe too small for an extended engagement, but I imagine a few guerrilla attacks of this nature would almost certainly make the Gov NEED to retaliate against Ricks base, which hopefully they could rig up an Ambush.
Agreed on retreating from the Prison back to Ricks town. They could take that over and set it up pretty quickly, but lack the protection the prison walls afford to them.
Any sort of commercial construction vehicle would be great for attacks and transportation. Granted, refueling would be a bitch.
Have we established that zombies cannot climb??
I really liked the episode over all, as a view of the outside world.
In fact, I really enjoy the webisodes …and wish they would maybe do some things about other survivors or groups. For example, the people that attacked the group at Herschels town, most likely a gang of marauders. It would be interesting to see a few episodes of what they are doing. Something like Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, have survivors turned into roving gangs of lunatics yet?
Regarding the backpacker, he is an extra mouth to feed. They can no longer trust outsiders like what went on in the prison.

There are plenty of trucks in the world. Diesel is a lot more stable than gasoline, too.
In fact, gasoline would not be good in a modern car after about months. Diesel lasts forever, provided you have some way to stir it and keep it from seperating.

Not for walkers, for people with rifles (e.g., gov’s men).
And the explosive in modern grenades is very stable, shelf life probably a hundred years or more.

According the the interview, she’s a Jewish girl from New Jersey that moved to England as a kid because her dad had business there.
Reminds me, I need to resurrect my “hot Jewish girl” thread.

We covered this, like, five months and 25 pages ago. Along with a debate over exactly how hot, cute, or average she was. ![]()

Gotcha. Agreed, certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea in that case.
