From first impressions I don’t like who they’v cast as the Governor. After reading the comic I always assumed it would be someone like Danny Trego. I’m yet to see the first episode so I’ll hold judgement until then.

My reasoning of why he took them out as they were a legitimate threat to his authority as they represent security and a world that has “moved on” while he wants to maintain control within Woodbury without having to partake in any legitimate power struggle.
Also one of the main reasons he’s so interested in Andrea’s former group (Rick’s group) as Rick potentially poses a threat to the Governor’s authority.
