Waist Decreasing on More Protein?

I don’t use protein powder. To the best of my knowledge I’m allergic to whey. I just make my own little protein shakes using natural food (milk, milk powder, PB, etc, etc).

I know milk has whey…I think it’s the concentration level that bothers me. If it’s highly concentrated whey I get a bad reaction.[/quote]

You could have used a low quality brand. Never know what else they put into some of those tubs. Some of the companies have been known to add in soy, and other ingredients, without mentioning it on the label.

As far as waist reduction, protein will slow digestion, reducing the insulin bump, and helping keep you insulin sensitive. Also the thermic effect of protein is higher then carbohydrates and fats.

Also if you are gaining LBM, then your metabolism will be increasing too. Increasing protein should give you the building block to help increase muscle mass.

Also since protein digests slower, it leaves you satiated longer, and many people don’t notice they are eating less.

Often an increase in protein is connected to a reduction in carbohydrates, and when this occurs there is an even bigger effect on insulin. This also can result in a reduction in fiber, causing constipation. I learned this the hard way, and now know what women go through in childbirth.

The stuff I tried was Greens+ Whey Protein Powder. I didn’t even buy the stuff…my sister did and I just decided to try it. Bad idea.

Well, I’m not planning to use protein powder. I could only imagine that I’d get better results with the stuff, but I’m willing to sacrifice that. Besides, my aim is to get around 100-140 grams of protein a day (I weight almost 140). I can achieve that pretty easily with food.

Well, you fix your diet, eat clean, proper food, better timing and all that, and you’re surprised your body composition gets better?

I remember at some point in the past, I was maybe at 192lb, I was eating well in excess of 3000 cal / day, definitely above 220 g of protein per day, sometimes a lot more, my total weight was decreasing but I was actually slowly adding muscular mass (and also making progress in terms of strength). I was very surprised indeed.

But eat clean and train right and the results are bound to follow.

The amount of protein is not necessarily related to gas and bad breath. It’s perhaps due to the kind of protein you’re eating.
But everyone is different.
