Vomiting During ABBH

The problem with Waterbury is that he catered mainly for the general population, not serious lifters who would not hesitate to be in the gym 4+ days per week and wanted arms bigger than 15 inches. For people not used to training, and needing results as fast as possible, his basic methods WERE good.

But for those who already had a good base and serious goals, his rigid methods were limited to say the least. Then again, he did admit that to some degree (I believe he suggested the more serious trainees to wanted to go to the next level needed to isolate and give more direct attention to bodyparts).

Like F.F. said in here though, there are nuggets of good information from many authors (Waterbury included), you just got to filter it via trial and error/experience. For example, I liked his volume tables which prescribed total reps per week/bodypart depending on goals of strength/hypertrophy focus. They seemed to be pretty accurate IMO.

ABBH shouldn’t be that tought. You’re using 60% of your one rep max on front squat for sets of 10 reps. Your 10rm is about 75% according to most calculators. Then you rest 3 minutes before coming back to front squats. The last time I did it, I found I had to use a higher percentage just to feel like I was doing anything. Maybe you should try lowering the weight.

For the first time in a long time i went gym after breakfast. I was doing day 3 of ABBH I which looks like this

A1 Front Squats 5x10
A2 Hanging Pike 5x10
A3 Standing Leg Raises 5x10

Front squats are fucking hard. Doing them requires abs. You should have a damn good reason for supersetting them, and “Waterbury said so” isn’t. The man might have a few good ideas, but I don’t consider this one of them.
I don’t see why anyone hates on Waterbury

I’m going to take a stab at this and say its because he named, and you guys are discussing, a program “Anti-bodybuilding” and its being discussed in our BODYBUILDING forum. Our general mantra as bodybuilders here and most everywhere else is " Ideas both new and old are welcome and encouraged to be discussed- as long as you do not disparage our thoughts or ideas." Waterbury violates the shit out of that unspoken rule. Good ideas or not, I hope he never comes back.
He’s went Hollywood so he only does drive by articles now. There are a lot of guys like Waterbury, Poliquin, Cosgrove, etc that get brought up in the bodybuilding forum because they don’t really fit anywhere else either.

im starting ABBH too and was wondering how important it is to do the supersetting…its too busy at my gym so i can only do straight sets, will it still work?
