VMA's, Miley & Our Culture

Maybe not, but “I want to BE Miley Cyrus!” said many teenage girls everywhere.

THAT is the problem.

Perhaps before the VMAs, but after the VMAs I doubt that is true anymore. Show me some indication that teenagers thought this was a great performance and I’ll take that back.

He’s more talking about the fame, publicity and MILLIONS & MILLIONS of dollars $$$$$$$$$$$
Crappy controversial performances come and go.
More pub = more sales = more money

Also, I haven’t ready any of this thread so I don’t know if it’s been said already (probably has) but did any of you actually listen to the lyrics of the song she sang?

I think this article best sums up what’s wrong with that performance. Better yet, this should have been printed in the Onion.
Seriously.

Bah, you’ve said it yourself already–if she was hot you’d have no problem so spare us the racist claim. lol
You kidding? She was so bad at it she might as well have been in blackface.

There is a fine line between suck and offensive…and I think that is what that article is about.

You clearly have a much higher estimation of American teenage girl taste than perhaps they deserve.

Show me some indication that a preponderance of teen girls are now tearfully tossing out their Hanna Montana merchandise in shocked disgust and I will reconsider my statement.

I think it’s pretty obvious that all of America, especially teenage girls, are appalled by Miley.
I mean she only has 2 of the top 10 songs on iTunes right now.
