I’m very pleased with this progress and from my “reportcard” PT wants just another 4 weeks of sessions approved from the Dr tomorrow and then I guess I get “released”…she also gave me an A+ for not overloading my arm so far…
I also used a bodyblade today, wow that was tiring…little isometric movements involving all those shoulder muscles…
So, tomorrow hoping the Doc will ok bicep movement for sure and I’m going to ask about SSB and benching even just the bar would be really cool at this point.
Everything is fantastic per the doc, made my baby bicep flex for him, as he ran he hand along it, trying to find it…“it’s all good, has a good shape. Work it back very gradually, you don’t want to tear that tendon again.”
I ask if I could bench the bar now, he said, well that doesn’t involve too much bicep, so yea, try it.
I did everything he asked, raising my arm above my head, resisting against his hand on different planes… He was grinning the whole time, I just think he was proud of his work… ;-D
So I just finished 5 sets of 15 curls with 2# DB…next time I use the 3# DB
PT sessions for about 4 more weeks, and dr said I should back to total full ability in 2-3 months.
Thats great news! I can feel your excitement through your words.
Im so excited for you!!! Now the hard part will be taking it slow? I say tuck away the weights that you know are off limits so your not tempted “just to see”…

Ok just 4 more weeks of PT sessions, I think they really just want to be sure I’m not rushing it too much.
Today, I got to 4# DB curls, doing reg curls and hammer curls to be sure I’m hitting it at all angles .
PT rigged up a “bench bar” for me, took the long dowel and tied a therapy band to each end, put the band around my back and pressed against the resistance for 3 sets of 20. He said he hasn’t worked with many weightlifters and is having fun with rehabbing me…lol
2 awesome training sessions today…
1st had a strong lifter come by to squat on our mono lift…and I deadlifted 75# for a few sets, working on strengthening the tendons slowly and also working on hook grip some more.
Then went over to old training partners new gym to bench for the first time in 12 weeks.
Bar x 15 for 3 sets
55# x 15 for 2 sets, lats seized up on me for the 1st 2 sets and then figured out I wasn’t giving in to that pain, so they relaxed a bit.
Cable face pulls
30 x 15 for 3 sets
Tricep pushdowns
50 x 15 for 3 sets
They had a SSB so I had to try that one, bar weighs 75#
bar x 10 for 2 sets
95 x 10
105 x 10
125 x 10
145 x 10
165 x 10
We’ll see how the shoulder feels tomorrow, if all good, more weight next time! Right now the shoulder feels fine.

awesome work coach. I’m glad to hear that SSB enabled you to squat

that is some pretty good squatting for just being back
Thanks Anthony, now to see if Pete found me a used SSB or if I have to order one.
Thanks Rhonda, can’t wait to squat again this week, hoping I’ll get to Sat.
Had 1st post-surgery massage, my guy wouldn’t work on me until the Dr released me.
He worked on my shoulder, got into the joint area but not deep and it didn’t hurt at all. Once he started on the incision, I felt it immediately, didn’t hurt, just felt different, but he said he wait a bit longer so it wasn’t so sensitive.
Worked on my back, traps, lats, serratus interior. Did some active release on my bicep, only on the muscle belly because as he got higher towards where the tendon was reattached I kinda wimped out, I’m still guarding it pretty good.
He said I definitely still have quite a bit of muscle there, it just needs to be activated and the scar tissue needs to be broken up some.
He gave me a small cup to work some cupping work over shoulder, especially around the incision area to help break up the scar tissue.
PT this morning was good, upped the DB curls to 5# for 3 sets of 15. Worked up on shoulder work to a thicker therapy band- gold, thick gray is next.
nlmain - yes, it’s kinda fun to see what the PT’s come up with, today my PT was telling her colleagues, got to get her ready for a competition in March, she’s doing great, she’ll make it!
PT this morning, some different stretches to kinda isolate my shoulder blades from raising as my arm goes overhead, she holding down the serratus area while raising arm overhead and twisting, was okay but felt a bigger stretch. Also got to throw a weighted ball overhead onto an incline trampoline, throw and catch and throw and catch…between that and the bodyblade, my entire shoulder area was just plain sore and tired, but not in pain.
Oh, got to 6# db curls on that right bicep…up 5 # in 2 weeks! Yay for muscle memory!!!
Hit the gym again with one of my training partners…right after PT session this morning
SSB Squats:
bar (75#) x 5
bar x 5
115 x 5
135 x 5
155 x 5
185 x 3
205 x 2
215 x 2 dang, this feels heavier than it should
Sumo DL:double overhand grip
bar x 10 x 2
95 x 10
115 x 5, right hand grip starting to open
115 x 5, kept grip tighter this time
shoulder is feeling the pull from the weight so will call it here today.
Rev Hyper/short strap:
1 plate x 10
2 plates x 10
3 plates x 10
4 plates x 10
ab work, yuck, cramped on the right side after the second set.
This is going to get hard to keep the weights low when training with partners, but I kept up with her…ha, ha
except for the rack pulls, shoulder isn’t ready for that type of weight (yet).
