Lots of mention of the carrying out of the punishments mandated in the Qur’an in accordance with shari’ah, such as chopping off heads, hands, and a hand and a limb on the opposite side of the body, and other things Muslims tell us don’t happen in Islamic societies:

We all know the muslims are cruel and petty.

I condemn the death penalty.
But if I lived in a perfect state (with no bad verdicts, everyone feels responsible for what he’s doing etc.) and they’d asked me how to kill the convivted, I’d say beheading in a heartbeat.

You can spin that around how you like. Ideology is the key. Humans need a reason to act brutally and unmercifully against other human beings or even neighbourhood guys.
Anything which tells them why the others are vermin is fine. Communism calls it “imperialsts”, Nazis did well with the “jew swine”, islam does it with the “disbeliever” or, how clever, the “jew swine”.

Er… I said religion gave them the opportunity. I didn’t say religion ALWAYS gives them the opportunity.
In this case, religion was the cause. In the case of the soviets and Red China, the opportunity was created by a pissed off working class who found communism, something so unrealistic, if it had a holy book I’d call it a religion… wait…

The Soviets and Red Chinese put the state above man and had no god so murder became very simple.
