Vick Screws Up

He was picked up today on firearm charges.

Damn, “quickdraw” dagz beat me to it.

Talent can only take you so far if your a fuck up like Vick! He’s a piece of shit person who deserves nothing! How don’t care how good you are on the field or how athletic you are…you do this kinda of crap, people owe you nothing! I hope he gets pushed aside. He’s the type of dumbass that just can’t help but get in trouble! At some point he needs to learn that he just is just a person who can’t get away with things! The path he’s on now…he’ll end up in prison some day! See if those guys care what his last name is!

He gets into a hell of a lot of “altercations”.

Surely these constant actions don’t reflect Vick’s true character.

Everybody is out to get him.
I sure would hate to be the little brother of a ridiculously wealthy NFL star.

I’m tired of this “Why should we expect him to be any different than any other young colleg kid?” bullshit. You want to know why? Because the kid is not just another college-aged kid trying to find himself; he’s Marcus Vick, QB for the VTech Hokies. And he knew that when he made the decision to play for a high profile D1 college football program.

On top of that, it’s not like this guy has just made a few “adolescent mistakes”. The kid has fucked up bad. A lot. I don’t expect anyone to be perfect, but one look at the guy’s record will tell you he’s not just “another celebrity unfairly placed under the microscope”.

The kid is a troublemaker, plain and simple. If he wanted to just be himself and not have to worry about the media all the time, then he should have just enrolled as a regular, non-athlete student.

I don’t feel sorry for one single athlete who ever gets pointed out by the media when they fuck up with their whole “Why don’t they go after anybody else?” schpiel. You want to know know why? Because no one gives a shit about Everyday Joe. They give a shit about you. And that’s what you wanted.

You want everyone to love you and care about you and respect you (the most overused cliche ever among athletes, BTW) when things are great, but when something goes wrong it’s “Why is everybody picking on me?”

Maybe he’s not wholly to be blamed. Someone, whether it was his parents, peers, or other mentor of some type, should have sat this kid down a long time ago and said “Look, if this is what you’re going to do, you have to maintain at least some semblance of decency in the public eye because someone will be watching you at all times.”

For all we know, however, maybe someone did try and just never got through to him. Either way, don’t defend him on the “well he gets picked on cause he’s in the spotlight” horseshit. Someone said earlier that it’s a cop-out, and they’re absolutley right. It’s a fucking cop-out. It’s the price you pay for the fame and money you seek.

“For every yin, there’s a yang.”

Sorry, looking back at that I realize it sounds kind of harsh. I hope no one took offense to anything I said. I’m generally a very easy-going guy :stuck_out_tongue:

P.S. I also generally post under another name, under which I have a lot of posts. I only used this one to post some…erm…risque pics of my gf (she didn’t want it to get back to her somehow) and I didn’t realize my mistake until after hitting the “submit” button.

I only mention this because I don’t want anyone to think I’m just some troll with 10 posts who comes in to stir shit up.

Actually, they do go after Everyday Joe. That show is called COPS.

  1. Am I the only one who’s looked up ChuckJ’s last post?

  2. There’s being a 20 year-old and then there’s Marcus Vick. If you want to be a world famous celebrity, you have to make some sacrifices. We all have to do the right thing, not what we want to do. Unfortunately, some pro team will probably take a chance on him.

LOL…nice. Never even crossed my mind.

Either way, the athletes have no excuse

I have said it before to my friends…I would probably be dead. I was way too imature to handle that type of money and scrutiny at such a young age.

Having said that, he is still a dipshit.

Vick is fucking rediculous.

Easy now Beavis…

Vick is the product of, allow me to quote Ashlee Simpson, “Living in the Shadows”…

Why he went to VT to begin with is beyond me… Every day listening to “hey are you better than your brother?” would get really fucking old. He’s a fuck-up, sure, but he also has about 50 million more stressors to deal with.

He would have been better off going to Marshall or WVU. Hell Marshall has a history of turning althletes with a suspect past into something marketable.

Much like Ryan Leaf’s brother going to Oregon rather than WSU.

Randy Moss. Not sure if one guy qualifies as a “history”. Hell, it wasn’t Marshall who turned Randy Moss into “something marketable” anyway. It was his actions on the field.

But back on topic, yes, Marcus Vick is seriously fucking up. When I was his age, I was seriously fucking up too and I bet a lot of you who write him off as a bad person were too. The kid needs some guidance but most kids his age do too.

What are these young guys doing; reading from the “Maurice Clarett/Tyrell Owens Book of Wasting Talent?”

I’m not judging these guys; it’s just frustrating to see young guys who have more natural talent in their THUMB than I ever had, or ever will, have wasting it…and for what?

Marcus Vick got kicked off the Virginia Tech Fooball team (and obviously is quitting school) for being…stupid…

His response?

“It’s not a big deal,” Vick told the newspaper. “I’ll just move on to the next level, baby.”

Right…a little lesson, Marcus…you obviously haven’t learned a damn thing; have no desire to change the things that got you into trouble in the first place; and will most likely be a bust in the NFL.

Damn…

One of those “legal problems” was a traffic violation for driving 38 in a 25mph zone. Uh, I can think of many worse things to judge someone’s character by. My personal opinion is that these guys are under a microscope. Many of the same people that judge them harshly would look much less pretty themselves if held under the same scrutiny. Having someone nearly video tape your life has to be hard on some of them, especially those still of college age. [/quote]

Agree! Vick will move on & be a badass like his big brother; no doubt about it.

The sporting world is full of talented guys that couldn’t make it because of behavioral problems.

Multiple arrests are often a symptom that the guy has real problems.

For his sake I hope he grows up and fixes his life before it is too late.

Don’t want to hyjack the thread too badly but your comment warranted a qualifying responce.

Randy Moss wasn’t the only athlete with a questionable past at Marshall. Notice I said athlete, not football player.

Marshall went on probation with the NCAA back in ‘01 for dealing with athletes who were non-academic qualifiers, specifically football and basketball. Which lends me to believe that they have a fairly consistent history of both recruiting and accepting athletes who were probably passed over by other top schools with top programs due to the athletes’ misgivings in both academics and maturity…
