Michael Vick has been indicted for conspiracy to commit dog fighting.
This was a grand jury indictment so for those not up on what that is please understand that it doesn’t mean much.
It doesn’t take a lot to indict you with a grand jury so before you start shipping Vick off to jail understand that a lot of things still have to happen before he goes anywhere.
Here is a good link for details:
What I was interested in knowing is what everybody thinks about:
How this will affect his career
How this will affect his endorsement deals
Do you think he will be convicted?
I cannot participate in this discussion rationally since I am too emotionally connected to it.
I know there are a lot of bull terrier owners out there (including our esteemed leader TC) so I figured this would be of a lot of interest

I agree with you completely and so does every source that I have checked so far.
It is the top news story on ESPN,Fox, and Yahoo sports sites.

I agree as well. You have to keep in mind, innocent until proven guilty. If he did it, the throw the boitok at him b/c s like committinh murder in human terms. If not, the get off his dick.
Vic will get a top tier, high-priced lawyer and only one of three things will happen:
(1)Charges dropped
(2)Go to trial Found not guilty
(3)Found guilty get a “slap on the wrist” with a fine.

Hey Xylene,
I hope, that if he is guilty, that you are wrong, but I cannot argue with your logic.
This was also the top story on sportscenter tonight, they took the first 12 minutes of the show to talk about it.
I have to imagine the court of public opinion will have a greater effect on the NFL’s and sponsors decisions.
There are a lot of dog owners/lovers who are also NFL fans and this situation just seemed to strike a cord with a lot of people which crossed racial, economic and team loyalty lines.
While I can understand (although not agree) that Vick may come out of this legally unscathed, I think his career will never be the same.
He will have to wait this entire season with this hanging over his head and there is no way that as this story builds, that companies who sponsor him are going to stick around.
Thanks to everybody for contributing to this thread.

That is a good thing when the avatars involve tits.
Back to the Topic at hand, I have a hard time believing that Vic didn’t have anything to do with this. There was a kennel with over 60 dogs on his property. If there was dog fighting and no one will testify that he was present at the time, it will be difficult to convict him.
The biggest thing to me, if it’s true, is how him and the other gentleman executed 9 different dogs in various ways (hanging, drowning, electrocution, etc…).
If he is found guilty of that I hope he spends a long time in prison.

As long as Vick:
-keeps leading the Falcons to wins
-is 1st string QB
his career won’t be “tarnished” and his sponsors will continue to fund him.
Anyone can be indicted, so we’ll have to wait and see whether he did anything. If he did what he’s charged with doing, his punishment should be to step into a cage and fight under the same rules he had the dogs fight under. If he did what he’s accused of, I can think of many who would be glad to be in there with him.

Well dog fights are usually held in a enclosed area usually made of wood or a pit. Would this be like MMA style match-up or Vick using only hand and his opponent armed with knives, tasers(sp?), etc?
The feds wouldn’t indict Vick unless they have overwhelming evidence. They don’t want to be embarrassed on a national stage. Mike Vick may be convicted or not, but in the court of public opinion guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is not the standard. His career is over.
Sickeningly, high-level celebrities usually get away with anything or almost anything they please. Odds are that Vick, IF he’s even found guilty, will receive no punishment worthy of mention. He will then continue to generate and receive large amounts of money for the entertainment industries that he ultimately works for.
If Vick is truly guilty, he SHOULD be put into the situation he forced dogs to face, just as CaliforniaLaw stated.
Played like what one year in college, was supposed to revolutionize the quarterback position, got payed millions of dollars to pass for like 120 yards per game and this is what he does with his life.
PIECE OF SHIT…They should put him in a pen with like 5 dogs and let him scramble around for a while and when he passes out let the dogs bite his balls off!!!
