Vick Indicted!

But seriously, Kobe Bryant (rape charge) was forgiven by fans and media and someone mentioned Ray Lewis (2 men murdered), he was also forgiven by fans and media. And dare I say it, even Mike Tyson (too many charges to list) has been forgiven in many circles. We simply must wait for the outcome and go from there. If he’s found innocent, in time, the same would and should happen to Mike Vick.

On a side note…Is it me, or does it seem like because animals are involved, there is more furor to his case? With the Ray Lewis case, again, 2 MEN were stabbed to death, I don’t recall seeing this much venom nationally. The crime he’s charged with is terrible, don’t get me wrong, but are some putting cruel acts to animals above cruel acts to people?

America has always put the rights of animals above the rights of people, product of too much money. Then you have to remember PETA is no joke they are fanatics.

Kobe has been forgiven but only moderately. If he wins a championship, and stops acting like a dick to his teamates people will forget about it even more.

Mike Tyson gets a pass because he’s crazy. He kissed a man who just knocked him out for christ sake.

Ray Lewis made himself look good by 1) winning the super bowl, which in America sports trumps everything. 2) “Testifying” against his co-d’s even though it was probably a bullshit testimony.
3) Helping his co-defendants get off also.

I wonder if Testosterone had any part in this case?

not as sick as that avatar that you have.

Are you teaming up with LL Cool J for a chap stick commercial or what?

you had a funny, if lame comment. It is unfortunate so many people are too ashamed of themselves to post real pictures.

You are either projecting a fake persona or are a weak minded individual scared of others opinions.

Either way, dog fighting is sick. Hopefully, Vick is convicted.

No fake persona and its not your opinions that scare me…its your face. Just wondering why someone would post a picture of themselves offering their lips up on a website mainly for dudes.

I bet they dig up a lot of dog bones on that property.[/quote]

DSL’s

“Texas Guy the Magnificent”

Don’t ask…don’t tell

even if vick didnt take part in the actual dog fights,i would bet he knew about it.

Now you can voice your disgust for Michael Vick’s repugnant actions, by signing an online petition, all it takes is 30 seconds.

Do it for poor Rufus

I think animal torture is disgusting. That being said, where do you draw the line. I don’t even want to know the kind of filth the livestock that I eat lives in or how they kill the animals. People get ants in their pants over dog fighting but bite in to their hamburgers without blinking an eyelash.

Thank you very much for this link. I have signed on and would encourage more to take a minute and do the same.

It is now being mentioned on the senate floor. This is not going away any time soon since it seems everybody is getting in on this.

I realize he is getting very old, but Robert Byrd seemed kinda upset about this issue on the floor today.

Check it out:

I saw the actual dogs fighting on television. They kept showing the pitbulls biting the other pitbulls neck and yanking and shaking. Wow. I can’t believe they actually aired that while they were doing the news brief. I mean they played like 1 minute clips like 5 times in the 10 minute briefing. I had to change the channel. I’m not against fighting in general, but it was just too much for me.

Its a pity because I really like Vick as an athlete. Let’s face it the guy is very entertaining. Now, I’m going to have to struggle with liking him now.

I was raised on a farm and cows have to be the dumbest thing on this earth, they are walking hamburgers. Real senseless animals.

There is a big diffrence between dog fighting and livestock, one is a senseless act of violence the other is a means of providing food for your family and the general population to survive and don’t give me that crap about we could survive off garbanzo beans, hemp seeds, and pita bread I am aware of that but eating meat is natural, all the strongest animals on the planet eat meat (I am sure there is exceptions).

Animal cruelty for the sake of violence isn’t cool no matter if it is dog fighting, cock fighting, or some rodeo down in Mexico where the bulls are tortured and killed. Of course people will be more upset about incidents involving dogs as they are a domesticated animal and “mans best friend” Where as chickens and cows might have any sort of brain breed right out of them.

Here is a link provided by the human society. It is a online petition to the president of Nike asking him to drop Michael Vick.

I would ask anybody with a dog or anybody who feels strongly about this issue to please sign it.

Thanks,
Mike

Russell Simmons and Al Sharpton make a statement as to why they spoke out against michael vick.

I think anthropomorphizing dogs is quite silly. Dogs can not replicate human thought processes, think in narrative and sequential terms, or understand human minds. But people insist on attributing human-like qualities to their pets. This current shitstorm about dog rights is baffling when considering the shit that some other animals go through. Is there anybody out there that thinks putting a value on certain species’ lives is odd. Would anybody like to volunteer a rating system for those animals we are allowed to torture and kill and those we are not?

nota bene: i love eating tasty animals

I agree I don’t think animals should be tortured for the sake of torture, Raising livestock for the sake of eating is fine though. I might just kill myself if I couldn’t eat steak.

I said in my reply that people get more bent out of shape because it is a dog and they fell closer to them because they are very domesticated.

Mike Shank, you seem to be one of the most prominent posters on this topic. I’m not saying that’s bad, I’m just wondering why it seems to touch such a nerve. I assume it’s because you own dogs (your avatar). Is that the extent of the reason you’re so interested. I’m asking purely out of curiosity.

Hi Agressive Napkin,

Your observations are 100% correct. As you have noticed, this subject really does touch a nerve.

My name is Mike Cruickshank (hence the name mikshank) and I am a personal trainer in Princeton, N.J.
Here is a picture of my dog, Bumper, a 9 year old Stat. Terrier. My then roomate, a guy named Jake Wade, adopted her with me when she was 11 weeks old.

Here is a picture of her:

I really appreciate the manner in which you asked the question, I will write more but I have to take Bumper out to pee. I can fill you in more when I come back.
